Charming, nostalgic, imperfect, worth it

As a middling aged point and click veteran, it was lovely to get back to the genre with the same humour, tongue in cheek exposition, and lovingly created artwork. Unlike many P&C's you didn't get caught up in ridiculous finicky puzzles, but therein lies my only complaint. It was at times too obvious, too lineal. As the game progressed there was a little more meat to the puzzles, but generally it was just a case of playing through doing the obvious. I highly recommend the game to any fans of the genre, but more for the joy of pointing and clicking then for a serious challenge to the mental processes, although newer generations unused to the devilishness of zork and the like may find this quite complicated enough, you never know.

The humoristic return of point and click

I had added this game to my wishlist, just after been watched its hilarious trailer. It deserved to be bought even before it's final release, and it is! The game maintains the same announced humor, and its puzzles are not so complex to put the player in crisis and disturb his storyline. Yes, it is one of the most deserving point and click game of recent times, especially in a landscape of titles where developers are in search of ultra-realistic graphics and special effects comparable to movie colossal. If you are a fan of the genre, it deserves every money required.

Problems on OSX

The game crashes on start on mac OSX when you have different "home folder" from your login name. Could be fixed by creating required folder and path and giving to it read and write permissions. /Users/login name(different from your home folder)/Library/Application Support/Book of Unwritten Tales After that the game starts and creates savegames and seems to work flawlessly. It still crashes on "quit game" but it doesn't have any impact on your gameplay.

4.5 invested to the end

A game that makes you want to keep playing to see how the plot unfolds is a good game to me. Many good laughs. Love Wilbur the best. Nice: Story. MUSIC. Characters. Humour. Multiple characters to control on some stages. Interactibles deactivate when no longer of use. FAST TRAVEL. Fast forward on dialogue. Could be better: Wish there's a highlight feature for interactive items. There were two small ones that I missed and had to rely on a walkthrough. ... Workaround: Quickly waving my mouse through various parts of the screen helped -- to see if prompt text appears -- not as good when screen section is close to exits, though, because the exit's text keep appearing. That's how I missed one item that's close to an exit. Wish: maybe interactives glint after a certain amount of time at a scene or at regular intervals? Ending's rushed: Budget probably ran out. Bird's chirping volume too loud.
