A misunderstood masterpiece.
This game has had a difficult road since its original release. Reviewers, even from supposedly professional, major publications, gave it poor reviews due to their initial impression that it's just about luck, it's too random, it's too unfair, etc, etc. I have over 130 hours with the game, and have played over 400 games, and none of that is true. With ten turns to navigate, problems cropping up every turn, each playthrough provides a unique puzzle for you to solve. The numbers that the dice roll are far less important than how you use them to solve the puzzle presented. Listen to me, because this is true: At least on normal difficulty, it is winnable virtually 100% of the time, if you make the correct decisions. The ultimate brilliance of the game is that even after 125 hours and 400 playthroughs, every since run seems to present new, and INTERESTING decisions. I'm pretty damn good at it, but I can't just skate my way through. From the first turn to the last, you have to be on your toes. If you run into a seemingly "unfair" situation, it's likely -- no, assuredly -- that you're in the situation due to a mistake earlier in the game. Anyway, it is my favorite game of 2016, and a WAY underappreciated gem. (Oh, and it's bug-free, and the UI is good and the graphics are good and the music is good and the art is excellent and all that. But it's the gameplay itself that nears perfection.)
