Tex Murphy: Mean Streets + Martian Memorandum

Reading the other positive reviews, the rating is possibly a matter of expectations. If you played UAKM or one other younger game of Tex, please note you will get a complete different gameplay with Tex1+2. My overall rating: This package is a candiate for a free teaser package. Tex1: zero stars. In my opinion the gameplay is completely off-topic. I expected a pi game to solve riddles. What I got at the start was a sort-of flight simulator. The time (graphic-wise) was not yet ripe of a good flight simulation, so you fly long times over green fields. Oh, yes, when you know the navigation code of your destination, you can activate the automtic pilot and *watch* your speeder flying over green fields. I admit, I didn't make over the 1st 10 minutes of the game. I just expected something different. Tex2: 3 stars That's more what I expected. I point-and click adventure with a graphics that's quite lovingly made for that time. Some mechanims, like a changing mouse-cursor over a hotspot or a changing mouse-cursor depending on the action, is not yet there, but please be reminded when this game was made. I am sure, if you are a point-and-click lover and 'pro', you'll have a lot of fun. Cheers, Lutz

Ah...Sylvia Linsky ... When the game first came out, I was only 14, but I still remember it today. Thanks a lot for this GoG !

We're talking 20 megabyte hard drive, 640K RAM hercules/monochrome graphics, no sound card and it had full audio, music, voice, etc... That deserves a mention for technical achievement. Otherwise it was a game with boatloads of technically impressive stuff for the time but lousy on the game design front. I have vague memories of annoying puzzles, a pointless flight simulator that could have easily been replaced by a 2D map with clickable icons, frustrating dialog etc... I'm pushing back against the nostalgia curve on this one. 20 megs only allowed for so much and this one quickly got deleted. Or was I playing form disks? Hmm... I wonder if it was this one where I learned what "del *.*" does when accidentally in the root directory.

Tex Murphy....A Forgotten Hero no more....Seriously this game series is one of the best pieces of interactive entertainment you will ever lay your hands upon, thanks to bringing back this classic series, looking forward to killing moon, pandora, overseer.....and when the time comes....PROJECT FEDORA!!!!

One of my favorite point and click games of all time...GREAT GAME!
