The dark side of the Arthurian stories
Being an avid boardgamer I was following the comings and goings of Awaken Realms ever since their first boardgame on This War of Mine. Since then they've continued to push their boundaries and by doing so have earned a massive fanbase with boardgamers. I was extremely delighted when they were going to push Tainted Grail to a video game. Ive been playing it since alpha and its been a hell of a journey. So how does the game actually play :P You've got 2 game modes, campaign and conquest. The campaign mode is different from the story in the boardgame, if I remember correctly, but the mode that I have been playing the most is the conquest mode. In it you get to develop your character by gaining loot and cards to add to your deck. You've got three classes, brawler, berserker and guardian. They each have their own playstyle. The Berserker is my favourite. Planning out taking hits, only to heal myself by using his ability. Its very fun to see a plan work out. This mode being a roguelike it can be very very brutal in the beginning. But soon you get to know your enemies and how to best counter the various kinds you encounter. I could go on and on about how the game works, but better reviews have been made I reckon. Keep in mind its still in early acces, so there will be bugs (its really rewarding to find one and see the dev-team fix it in the next build of the game), but as early acces games go, this one is very very decent already.

Great storyline that opens beautifully!
I'm more of the FF, DIABLO, Horizon Dawn type where there is also action in RPG and you are not limited in the world, You build the deck from rewards that you select while running on the map and it accompanies you as "passive abilities / offensive abilities" until you die in the run (this is actually the 1-2-3 in the interface that you only know as a card) And each CLASS has its own playstyle. Every time there are new options and things you can try ... besides that it's like every action RPG you played ^_^

Solid roguelite deck-builder
Just bought it and completed two runs already, increasing the difficulty after each. And yet, I didn't save anybody yet, didn't unlock all locations and NPC,... Which means there's still plentiful of content to get and new characters to play to enjoy this content while not repeating the same thing all the time. Replayability is therefore a very strong point for its nine classes divided in three factions. The game is pretty simple for deck-builders afficionados, they'll clearly see what their character will benefit from considering their own playstyle. For the two classes played, it seems to have mainly two specialized approaches and one mixed. But it might offer more as I didn't unlock all their cards in one run (not even half of them), neither their faction's ones. On game mechanics, it seems that is very solid for each class, and I may be surprised by the later cards. As for the content, you'll meet a good bunch of NPCs with all of them having a quest (or I suppose some will have one). Seven of them will be in your village where you'll unlock bonuses for further runs (and there're a lot), thirteen specific NPCs you'll meet and try to save (also, I don't know what "saving" means so far as I didn't save anyone). Fixteen other NPC classified as "regular". You have twenty-three locations adding to NPCs. Everything is randomized so we might have to wait some time before solving quests. The dark fantasy ambiance is well set and the story is engaging. And considering there's a Goat-man guiding us, I expect the good old devil to be behind it. Deck-builder and dark fantasy lovers, go for it. Newcomers to both, you might want to give it a shot even though it could be overwhelming at the beginning.

love the atmosphere of the game and am having a lot of fun with it. there are a lot of different styles to play with though iit uses main styles and variations there of. if you like deck builders and want one that is a bit odd then this one might be for you.
