Sunrider: Liberation Day - Captain's Edition

First game was pretty darn good and got me hooked. I like the story and enjoyed space combat. Yet out of all thos girls we are forced to romance one that was literally the last one I would like to romance myself. Realization that I don't have an option to romance any character that were much more interesting, almost instantly killed my interest in this game. It looks like Mask of Arcadius falsely advertised that you will have a say in who you can romance with and once you buy Liberation Day you are informed that you have a linear romance. Once again, disappointing.

First, don`t expect this tiltle to be an RPG game; it`s more like a novel watched and played. Yes, your choices don`t matter that much and if you think this is an anime Mass Effect, you can be dissapointed. But the story is as epic as fighting against the reapers. The characters are great, the plot twists are amazing, I was brainwashed like after watching "Fight Club" movie or that KOTOR scene when Revan took his mask off. Gameplay is really good for a turn based strategy/tactics fan like me, as you need to really plan your turn. (I would add some description on enemy units, as it`s hard to tell what to expect from the new ones appearing during game progress). What`s missing? The next part of the game. I would buy it immediately if available.

It's a glorified kinetic novel at this point, frankly and although the game's pay to play, which is fair enough if it's worth it, honestly, it feels worse, much much worse, somehow the story manages to be shallow, character development... who are some of these characters? Cheap twists that haven't been earned, I'm just confused when not pissed at how badly it's performing on top of the story falling off a cliff, Mask of Arcadius was a far better experience, and free to play, I feel screwed two-fold, lost time earning money to pay for this and lost time actually playing this, and wasted some of my copium supply, waiting for it never get better, I can't even write coherently, it's a fucking mess.

While this game certainly lacks the length of the previous game, the ending and [Re]Turn makes it all worth while. The story was losing my interest until the ending, and then I was quickly engaged with series again. It leads into Sundrider 4, which is much longer with a very different style of combat that I find more engaging. Gameplay: Using the same engine as the previous game, you get more hex based space mecha combat. It’s the strength of the game by not just being a virtual novel set in a space war drama. A huge improvement is upgrade for units and special upgrades/buying torpedoes are separate instead of sharing money coast. Upgrading units are most consistent due to intelligence given after combat and money is used for buying extra ships/torpedoes/special upgrades. Story: The main story was forced with little choice. This I suppose is due to leading into Sundrider 4, which is an excellent squeal. I won’t ruin it. If you started with at least the 2nd game as I have, it is epic and over the top. -Warning- [Re]Turn provides choice and multiple endings. Do not play until after the main story! It’ll ruin it. Voice: Japanese voices were adding because...why? Maybe it’s really popular because VN are popular in Japan. The previous game had English, so it could have just continued or had both. I would have preferred to have English voices or cut scenes and whatnot. I’m glad the English voices for combat were left intact. Verdict: It’s not as good as the previous game in terms of story, but the ending redeems it. The combat is fun and refined more compared to the previous title. Firing the main cannon is my favorite thing to do, and works well with the new command point system. The music is excellent and gets the blood pumping, fire that cannon and it makes it worth it.

I've played Mask of Arcadius and the import isn't working to this game. It starts the game with a highly defensive upgrades and I've upgraded my ships to be offensive. So starting in a style I'm unaccustomed to. Why couldn't they just offer you some cash and set your ships like you want? Still, I still hope they'll find a way to fix the import.
