I've really tried to like it

Authors tried to invent interesting campaign, found solutions that you will scarcely find anywhere else, drawn great graphics. But with THAT MANY issues it was hard to find any pleasure playing the game, e.g.: -constructor forgets orders -building selection panel may reset and close with no reason -unit passing though the crowd likely stucks -your units start searching depth for attack only when they are in enemy crowd. Thus 5 enemy submarines destroy 20 of yours -mines are laid half screen away from where you asked -going to auto-repair, units go through enemy base, not to adjacent repair deck -units are visually too similar. Buildings are too -micromap shows units as blue dots on blue background. Or your units are pink, enemy units are coral -you will never guess meaning of button pictures -front and back interface panels can't be distinguished -no waypoints = a lot of micromanagement to move any turret "Cool features!" -"realistic water makes you slow" You'll watch for 1 minute for a turret to change its depth -"hidden caves!" You can't see them and can't help your units when they get into an ambush -"large final mission to summarize player's experience? Phuh, we'll make a labyrinth instead!" -"we have nukes! Like in StarCraft! Drop them anywhere!" Enemy can't prevent bombing. "Here is "closed area" where bombs can't fall, they will fall in random place instead!" What about bugs? -if you accidentally destroy building to capture, after 20 minutes you will find that you can't finish the mission -objectives say something like "destroy base on southwest", while actually it is on northeast -after mission restart your upgrades are kept We know too many examples of even earlier years where none of such issues appeared. After finishing White Sharks campaign I'm curious about the other races, but I can't return to this game. Now I know the reason why it wasn't popular in its time. This is sad how that amount of work was overrun by the amount of issues.

Works in Windows 10

I can confirm this game works in Windows 10 it only reqires some work on the user end. Thanks to Robb in the Discusssion forum I found out the GOG version does not auto configure the STConfig Application. You will have to assaign the Directories and set up the configures as well. Lastly you must install your videocard drivers from the videocard manufacture such as in my case mine is AMD for this game to work properly.

Dodajcie jeszcze wersję PL

Jeśli ktoś uwielbia ten gatunek gier i poszukuje czegoś oryginalnego to będzie zadowolony. To chyba jedyna gra gdzie całość działań od budowy bazy po walkę rozgrywa się pod powierzchnią wody. Co więcej gra jest podobna do znanego wszystkim Stracrafta. Zamiast kosmosu jest woda. Zachęcam do zagrania ze względu na klimat i gameplay, który wciąga mocno. Ciekawostka: Białe Rekiny i Czarne Ośmiornice mogą sobie nawzajem kraść technologie i tworzyć jednostki normalnie niedostępne dla danej frakcji. Silikoni to obcy i nie mają takiej możliwości, ale oni tego nie potrzebują :) PS: Dodajcie jeszcze wersję PL, bo ta gra na to zasługuje.

A great old school RTS

This was was sometimes called the "Starcraft under the sea", but that's a pretty unfair comparison. While it does bear some similarities to Starcraft, it's also very different and offers a unique experience. There's a learning curve to the game has the UI is laid out differently, there's lots of units with specific roles, there's multiple different resources to manage, there's a depth system, and the campaign is actually quite challenging right from the outset. There are three factions, some really nice looking CGI cinematics, pseudo-3D visuals that still hold up (especially if you increase the resolution) and nice features such as not having a unit selection limit, which believe it or not was the exception back then rather than the rule. You even have the ability to trade one resource type for another if you find yourself with an excess of one but not enough of another. You may need to tweak a few settings to get it running exactly to your liking in Windows 10 but it otherwise runs very well. It's not without a few flaws (for example all of the units in each faction have the same voice clips, making them difficult to differentiate), but the positives substantially outweigh the negatives.
