- This game felt so good to play, that after finishing it I wanted to go out and beat up people on the streets.
- Colorful/cartoony artstyle, ripped right out of the pages of a comic book. Reminded me of the artstyle Bastion, Transistor and Hades went for.
- Energetic soundtrack, in tune with the original trilogy.
- My only gripe with SOR4 is that I wish there was more of it. For more content like this make sure to check out the unofficial "Streets of Rage Remake", which is a compilation of the entire trilogy, plus a few new levels, made by dedicated fans. And it's FREE to download!
- Now if only Final Fight could get this amount of care and attention...
Great as SoR2 and so much better than SoR3 (the weaker one, in my opinion). For me, an old player from Mega Drive times, SoR4 was a fantastic and fun gameplay. Just buy and play.
It might not be the most modern beat'em up, but as a sequel to a long dormant franchise, it does a terrific job delivering the classical Streets of Rage experience. It might not take as many steps forward as it should have during that time, but when you're just looking to see ANY continuation of the series, SoR4 meets expectations and surpasses them while still remaining very faithful to the franchise. That in itself is very impressive. For fans. For non-fans, it might feel a little antiquated.
The game does have a few bugs and missing features, and there are some obvious omissions from the roster, but there is a good chance all of this will be added in time. The fighters you can unlock is already an impressive list and includes the entire cast from the previous games, including one boss (not sure why people are saying these characters aren't unlockable). The only real flaw is with the GoG version due to the lack of online.
This game won't launch, it crashes before the start screen with a text message telling me to report the issue to GoG. I'd like to report it, but I can't attach it via the form.
I asked the refund for now, sadly.
