Stellaris: Upgrade Bundle

Product name: Stellaris - Upgrade Bundle (base game + 4 DLC) Bought: 2024/09 Price: 26,99€ Refunded: Yes TL; DR: Do not buy. I try to buy my games on GOG these days. But it is not always feasible. This is one such case. I play too much CK3 and Skyrim and therefore value mods almost as much as I value oxygen. I fully expect mods to be easily accessible. What would be the point of moddability otherwise? That is why I refunded this game after half an hour: there is no convenient access to mods. Sure, you CAN probably get them. But you need to be a proficient hoop-jumper to do so. Paradox' launcher in theory allows mod downloads from their own repository. But you need an account at said repository for that. I noped outta that with alacrity. Not least because the repository seems like it also lacks almost all the most-used mods when compared to Steam. Dito for NexusMods. Steam has all the mods, but they ain't givin' 'em to ya. A quick check on the web suggests that you need additional software to even get a mod onto your hard drive. You'll likely need to invest further time to install it afterwards etc. I give 1/5 stars, because without mods, a vast chunk of the potential of this game is curtailed. Either make it much cheaper to compensate or fix the mod issue (looking at you, Steam and Paradox).

I bought Stella's a couple years ago but didn't play it. I was offered a discount and figured I should check it out. BIG MISTAKE!! When you look at the Stellaris Starter kit, it is priced at $90 but w discount, just $23. Ok ... so what is in the starter kit? It lists some DLCs withe ellipses, indicating more info. Click on the ellipses & it lists a whole host of expensive DLCs totalling somewhere around $200? Ok, I thought I was getting a good deal & the game might be worth trying out later once I have more time. I paid. Then I get a message telling me only 4 of the DLCs in the list come in the starter kit plus it includes the base game. I already have rhe base game though, so I should get a 2d copy to gift, right? Yes tgat would be fair & logical, BYT NO! Not only did I get ripped off on the other DLCs not being includ3d, but I don't get the game either??? SCAM!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRIDUCT UNLESS YOU HAVE NONE OF IT , REALLY WANTVIT & DON'T MIND SPENDING $250 total on a game you have not even tried yet. What trash!! I'd return it all fir a refund and ban it from my list if I could. I hate crooked scammy companies.
