Empty like the space

- Performance issues on good hardware - Bad interface and Controls. Example: you can not see enemy ships details, because they follow them, instead of being displayed on your hud. Most of the time you don't know what happens and you can not lock your turrents on a target, they just shoot whatever they want to. - Repetitive missions - Purest skinner box grinding ever, but fails to motivate even that way. - Trade is annoying. Low margins, few goods. Can't fill cargo. Fly hours to fill and get 5-10% margin. You get ten times that much just making missions. Have fun getting up the traders career. - Ships, even Battleships are all almost of the same size - Dumb, stupid dogfighting. If you expect to have at least here fun in this depthless game, you will be disapointed. - Tons of not working mechanics, or those you don't know if they are actually working and those, that definitely do not work or make any sense to use, because some another feature makes it pointless. - Dumb reputation system. Scale between low and high and makes people enemy or friend. Thats it. All factions have no point. They are just names with stations or zones allocated and a reputation at which they are hostile or friendly. Its scary how pointless and boring this game is. I did not expect it to be so emptier than the space to fly there in.

boring experience

a friend gifted me this game @steam a while ago but i want to do a review here @ gog too ..one of the most positive and relaxing game experiences I’ve had in a long time” – PC Gamer this quote kinda totally nails it if you are in need for a game you can play while cleaning up you room / childbirth or other afk stuff ... dont look any further but normal gamer beware this game gets repetitive very very quick really tried to love this game because i need a space sim fix ... but there are just 2 mission types you have to do over and over and over and over (fly around to scan / repair stuff or kill missions) they may be labeled research / repair / taxi etc .... but you have to do the same even if the missions are called different the fights are cool though but overall its really a relaxing (boring) experience (most of the time you sit tight and watch your ship fly ... even when doing missions)

Good Space Combat Game, Wrong System Req

A pretty good game, despite lacking any real tactical approach to battle due to ship equipment limitations, as the base ship systems cannot be changed only enhanced, and a 3 dimensional space that unfortunately does not influence combat all, the decent ship variety and the special skills differentiation in three different classes, can give to any space battle fanatics more then a few hours of fun. Be warned however that the system requirement ARE WRONG, with anything less then 6GB of Ram this game WILL NOT work as intended and various problems will occur after 30 min or so of gameplay, so despite starting on a 32 bit system, DO NOT buy this game unless your computer run a 64 bit OS, you'll regret it. The game is also mod friendly with tools given from the dev in the game folder by default. In collusion Starpoint Gemini 2 is a significant improvement over the first game, but not enough to warrant a 5 star.

Bare bones with lots of missed potential

Honestly, I do not understand the five-star reviews. Starpoint Gemini 2 is choke-full of missed potential and hastily check-marked "features" that could easily have been fleshed with just a little bit more effort. Going by the posts in the official forum , the developers themselves are well aware of that, but speak of "DLCs or expansions" as their intended venue for any further improvement. Don't get me wrong - it's a fun game for a while, but it becomes extremely repetitive really fast. Beyond the well-polished facade you'll quickly find bare-bone implementation of LMGs Early Access roadmap. It's a shame the title was released in this state, as with some additional work it'd easily deserve the five stars. Some quick overview of the areas that are vastly underdeveloped, in no particular order: - Little variance within each weapon class beyond "better" and "worse" - Little difference between various ships within each class (with some very rare exceptions) - Heavier classes have likewise limited improvement in armament (turret count) - Relations with factions are extremely simplistic, running on a single counter - Limited number of unique mission types - The world feels completely static - No development of ship officers - they are simple set of hard-coded boni - (something that I personally dislike - might not be an issue for most) PC skills are straight out of a MMORPG, combined with cool-downs. Passive "traits" are, again, simple boni in a three-stage checklist. The good: - Gorgeous graphics - both ambient and ship modelling is fantastic. Really nice work on special effects, as well - Great soundtrack, though quickly becoming repetitive since the number of "tracks" is rather limited - Large play area - the Gemini Sector is HUGE with lots of ingenious elements thrown into the mix - The UI could use polishing in some minor areas, but in general is very well developed and highly functional Starpoint Gemini is not a bad game. But it's not a great game, either.

Space Truckin', Tow Truck style..

The Premise is good, the delivery of the story is not.. The fights end up being all the same, step 1, find the largest ship that you outnumber their troops with your troops, grapple, board, reinforce, set waypoint for closest freindly station and start moving that way slowly with ship in tow and guns set to auto cause you can't see behind easily, pick off stragglers on way to sell the newest aquisition. doesn't matter if your the good guy or the bad guy, this is the whole game. reminds me of rebel galaxy with rpg elements. 20 hours maybe, but most will be bored with it after that.
