Many people are trying to dispute that this is exactly like Harvest Moon. I won't do that. It is exactly like Harvest Moon, but with a bunch of improvements, is playable on PC and is able to be modded. It's not like you have many RPG-like farm-centric games to choose from. So you farm. Or you don't. You say "screw you I do what I want!" I'm going to mine and kill things! So you do. Then you find yourself low on funds after an in-game season, even though you've cleared the whole mine. You have ore now. That's nice. Then you say "should I farm? No! I STILL do what I want!" So you start fishing. You determine that it is impossibly hard. But you're a god-damned adult and you aren't going to let a game tell you that you're incapable of making basic decisions or catching a stupid Carp. Who does this Bear guy think he is, right? So you keep doing it as the season passes you by. You gain a few fishing levels and suddenly you realize that it's actually crazy easy. And you have money now! So you decide it's finally time to start farming. So you spend several days clearing the debris off your completely neglected farm. You clear a patch of land, ho that sucker up and plant the most expensive seeds you can buy. You aren't stupid, so you put up a scarecrow and water them every day. And then the season ends before they bear any fruit. Because you really are an incapable idiot that forgot to check the harvest time and now it's Winter. Nothing grows in winter. So you have no money again and no crops. So you mine and fish for the whole month. Then the new year starts and you are having no nonsense. So you turn your grandfathers farm into a damned machine. You turn your ore into sprinklers, plant 500 berry-plants, make a few dozen kegs or jars and suddenly you're conglomerate making more money than you ever need without doing any of the actual farming yourself. I'm sure your Grandfather would be proud. And his ghost is, for some reason. I've spent 70 hours in this game so far.

This is one of the best games I've played in years. I always looked forward to what would happen next with each of the different characters in town, and seeing that next level of the dungeon. Optimizing my farm production was an enjoyable exercise, too. I've recommended this game to everyone.

Extraordinary says all. The principle of the game itself is easy and well known from other games, but this is not a clone and this is not only a faming game! There are so many differnt ways to play this game, there are so many genres combined to world full of fantasy. The visuals of the game are lovely as also the soundtrack is. What makes this game special is that the developer doesn't stop giving content to the fans! The game once came for a fair price but has grown over years and there never was a costly DLC or any try to rip off extra money from the customers (in contrast to what most other developers these days are doing...) This goes out to Concerned Ape: What you are doing for your fans and customers is really impressive! In a world full of greed and bullshit this is kind of medicine for the soul! Thank You. To all who haven't bought this game yet: Just go ahead, most of you will find a lot to discover and those who won't find something in this game at least support a guy who really cares about his customers and fans.

Stardew Valley has so many different avenues you can take your character on. Want to be a fisherman? Go for it! Just a farmer? That's cool too! So many characters to get to know in the game and become friends with if you want. The more friendly you get the more you get back. Good friends will share recipes with you to grow your cooking knowledge insteadd of just relying on the 'Queen of the Sauce' show. Overall, hands down my favorite PC game. I can spend all weekend playing!

Let me first start by saying that I love 16 bit styled games with that nostalgia vibe; I was that kid that would hide out in the closet for hours playing Pokemon games and the like. I loved the idea that world was still moving around me regardless of where I went and everyone in town had a story. This game is just like that. It has some Terraria and Minecraft building/crafting and was heavily inspired from the Harvest Moon series. The town is a lovely place to grow with, and growing is a huge part of this game. Everything in it seems to be a passion project and it is a stunning and gorgeous work of art. I have sunk hundreds of hours into building up my farm and interacting with the townsfolk, wooing my favorite love interests or just mining away at the mines. There are four seasons, two main story paths that you can take the town into (Don't be a corporate shill folks, have some heart) and bunches of cool people in this game. I wish I had been on board with this game from the beginning. It is seriously one of my favorite all-time games. Thanks ConcernedApe!
