1/3rd good, 2/3rds bad, 1/2 broken
The campaign map part of the game is slow, and unless you are very careful about the order in which you do things, you can literally make your heroes disappear, and soft lock the campaign. The ground maps are slow and clunky by RTS standards, games older than this (EG: AoE2) run more smoothly, and look better. The space battles are much more fun, but the factions are badly balanced, and it's too easy to spam certain units, and use cheesy tactics. But undoubtedly the worst problem was the memory leak causing chronic slowdown in EaW, the FoC expansion didn't seem to share the problem, thankfully, but the original game started to "chug" after no more than 5 minutes, eventually slowing down to the point that the game crashed.

Hmm... Rathere bad game
I love SW that game have it , but crash aftere crash its old game but even when i play on new computer its slowing down or crashing all the time 2/5. That game is like kid u dont won,t developers just forget about it like most of production's this days :( and this a old game :( its a trend of fu** up's :(

Cumbersome Combat
Not even the star wars atmosphere can save the dreary combat in this game. The economic management is decent. It's shallow but satisfying enough. The space combat is really fun, the open dimensions in space are cool to see and the animations are neat. But the ground combat is atrocious and too present in the game. The storyline has you doing a lot of ground combat with vader and other heroes and it is terrible. Grindy, bad controls, no strategy just grind until you win. It pretty much ruins the game. I'd much rather play an excellent rts like total annhilation or an excellent 4x like civ. This game doesn't really accomplish either that well.

Solid RTS
I see people calling this a 4X game. This was made before that was a genre. 1st and foremost, I see this as a campaign RTS. Yeah, there's a touch of management and progression, but it's heart is an RTS. A little patience and awareness will lead you to victory!
