A worthy successor to the series!

SUMMARY AND VERDICT For a full review of the game, please follow the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/SpellForce/comments/bu2txe/spellforce_3_soul_harvest_review_beta_tester/ Disclaimer: Even though I do not have many hours on the current build, I was a beta tester for SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest with over 50 hours put into it which can be confirmed by the game’s credits. SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest aimed to improve the base which SpellForce 3 had established and this time, they delivered. The gameplay feels better, fresher and most importantly, it’s a lot of fun – all of which made me really enjoy it and gave me that good old SpellForce feeling that I’ve been missing for so long. The campaign delivers a solid and well-polished 20-hour narrative which does a good job of balancing RPG and RTS – the two big trademarks of the series and at only 25 Euro at release (15 if you own SpellForce 3!), SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest is definitely a game that is worth its price and that I’d recommend everyone to put into their gaming library! Ratings (out of 10): Gameplay: 8.3 Story: 8.9 Visuals: 9 Sound: 9.6 Replay Value: 7.5 Final Verdict: 8.66

A proper expansion

This expansion introduced two ned factions, a new campaign, flying units, improved Co-op experience, and more. Honestly the store page for the game/expansion does a good job explaining just how much content you'll get from it. So yeah, a properly done expansion, and if you liked the base game I'd consider it a must buy. -------- Note: As of writing this review, you can't play the base game's campaign from Soul harvest's client but it's "Coming soon" , so if you want to play the base game with the improvements from the expansion you'll have to wait a bit longer.

A Fantastic Expansion

Spellforce 3, at first, was a game I had mixed feelings about. It was buggy, incomplete and was lacking in multiplayer playability. I've played it, primarily, for the story, because I happen to be a fan of the setting since I was a kid (Played all other Spellforce games that came out, still have them on CDs!). That, the narrative, the characters- everything? Just amazing. I really fell in love with the story, I very much liked how it was taken in Spellforce 3 and how it progressed further in Soul Harvest. The characters are made in a way that you can actually relate to them and their troubles- their flaws, even. The narrative of the entire plot and the ending? I'll admit, it gripped me by my heart. Spellforce 3 Soul Harvest also fixed the most glaring mechanical issues/bugs and have put in co-op mode, something I greatly enjoyed! The expanded multiplayer playability is also something that I very much like. This is definitely a game I recommend to everyone who doesn't have anything against RTS'es mixed with RPG style games. This was, quite frankly, over 40 hours of pure, satisfying entertainment and good gameplay.

A Very Good Game

I just finished the game and I think it warrants a review. In short: it is good. Nice graphics, AMAZING voice acting (seriously, everybody has a voice), very well written story and smooth performance. I only had 2 crashes for 30-ish hours of game play (which is good). The addition of new flying units adds more strategic options, which is also good. New races are always good. Much like previous titles in the series, auras are OP and so are summons, gold is useless except for getting exactly 2 items and there are secrets. From RPG perspective, the game is awesome. There are quite a few skill trees and synergy options that allow you to tailor your character as you see fit and add to replay ability. Companions are really well written and fit their roles in the party very well, and if they don't fit your play style, you can substitute them with mercenaries, created by you . My only real complains are the lack of a quick save button (that I am aware of) and the size of the quick access bar (needs to be bigger). Overall, a solid 5/5.

Great addon to Spellforce 3

Soul Harvest gave me 37 hours of fun which I find quite remarkable for an add-on. The base-game was criticized for missing fractions and these are now finally delivered with Soul Harvest: Dark Elves and Dwarves.. And fortunately they play very differently, which is also due to the flying units, which allow new strategic approaches. The soundtrack and the voice acting are excellent, but the dialogues unfortunately contain (just like in the base-game back then) several spelling mistakes or developer comments that someone forgot to remove before the game's release (e.g.: Kill enemy XYZ [WIP: Quest not working yet]). But I'll still give 5 stars because the game is really good in most other aspects and worth its money in my opinion.
