Got it for the plot and the ambientation
I enjoyed the game a lot and I don't regret puchasing it (when it was on sale). It's like an horror graphical adventure where you have to piece together what happened by listening to comms recordings and reading documents. Yeah, there's some puzzles, but nothing complex. I'm not a big fan of horror games where you can't fight back. However, I watched a bunch of SOMA gameplays before buying it and I really liked the premise and the biomechanical aesthetics. Kudos to the devs for having a native Linux version, but I couldn't get the game to detect my controller, so I had to use AntiMicroX as a workaround. They paid a lot attention to detail on all environments. You can go to barely any random corner on the seabed areas and find something (rocks, corals, structures, etc.). Feels realistic and not half-assed. Same with indoor areas. Almost all of them have bathrooms and storage rooms. While they usually don't have any functional purpose, their presence helps with the immersion, reminding you that people used really to work and live there. As a downside, your main character, Simon, is a bit of and overreacting and oblivous a-hole. Also, if you are triggered by though moral decisions on a videogame (see negative reviews), this game may not be for you. Put it on your wishlist and buy it when it's on sale.
