Not even fun for a few minutes

I remember having alot of fun with the demo as a kid. So i was kinda excited when i saw this game on GOG.. After playing it for a minute the excitement was competely gone and i wonder why i was liking the demo so much back in the day. When you start the very first mission, two enemy's come into the area. You can shoot right through them.. I had to use an entire magazine on the first one before he dissapeared into the air, the second one was only killable when i stopped aiming down the sights. I tried to change the resoultion to see if it was maybe a resolution issue, but i guess it was just the game after all. If i had a timemachine i would go back in time to ask the kid version of myself what's so good about it.

what the hell happened

they went from making 2 amazing games with soldier of fortune 1+2 and then this is the third game did anyone even test this steaming pile of garbage the hitboxes are almost non existent and almost every weapon other than the assualt rifle is worthless the ghoul engine used in the other games feel under used in the first game bullet wounds appeared on bodies the goddamn first game what happened there is no way anyone tested this

Gra przywodzi na myśl niskobudżetowe produkcje od CI Games takie jak np. SAS: Secure Tomorrow, Terrorist Takedown 2, czy Najemnicy jednak jest dłuższa niż wyżej wymienione gry i trudniejsza od nich - w grze Najemnicy zginąłem może kilka razy i to zazwyczaj od nieumiejętnego rzutu granatem, a w grze Soldier of Fortune: Payback w prawie każdej z 14 misji zginąłem kilka razy lub więcej (przedostatnią misję zawierającą bossa przechodziłem chyba 19 lub 21 razy zanim mi się to udało, ostatnią misję z bossem też wiele razy). Niektóre mapy są tak łatwe, że nie ginie się na nich w ogóle lub 1 - 2 razy, a niektóre trzeba przechodzić ponad 20 razy - jest więc zbyt duży rozrzut jeśli chodzi o poziom trudności map. Dla niektórych może to być zaleta, a dla niektórych wada. Oprawa graficzna całkiem dobra jak na niskobudżetową grę, model celowania znacznie bardziej realistyczny niż w grach z serii CS (Counter-Strike). Ogólnie rzecz biorąc polecam - moja ocena 8 / 10, zwłaszcza jeśli weźmie się pod uwagę fakt, że to gra niskobudżetowa, a nie jakaś superprodukcja na miarę Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Far Cry, czy Call of Duty.

Avoid this insult to a great franchise

Typically I try to collect every title in a franchise, this one however I'm avoiding for life. I remember playing this many years ago, it is as others have stated one of the worst fps gams of all time. Do not waste your money on this, maybe someday it'll be free, but even then I'd avoid it.

Steps back from previous ones

Soldier of Fortune: Payback felt like they took steps back from the previous games in the series. All of a sudden the control of your character is a bit wonky. With limiting your fps in the game I had no problem with hitting enemies. The levels in the game didn't feel at all polished like in the previous games. Then there are yet again enemies that can 1-shot you (at least on hardest difficulty). You are just at the end of a part to get a checkpoint but lets put an enemy that can 1-shot you just peaking inside. Last boss was just another one that could 1-shot you instantly while could himself tank several hits. Felt just very badly designed. Felt like the story was cut and there should be more. Still had an ok time with the game until the final part of it.
