That 's the way they should do it .

So, I finished the game before the primal calling DLC was released , and I said : " Hey ! That 's how they should do it ! " . This game is THE ONLY Baldur 's Gate II - like game I 've played since 2001 . No B******t practices such as implementing many things not helping the genre (in my opinion) in order to make more people buy the game . Simple ,pure fun . The story is not something mind - blowing , it 's just a good one . The game has partial licence for the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Role playing system , so that 's why you don 't get all the classes and subclasses available to that system , and the level cup , at least before the primal calling DLC was 10 (I think it was increased to 12 after thew Primal Calling DLC , but I 'm not sure) .The only disadvantage is that after finishing a quest of the main story - line ,you go back to the town / city to deliver it , and you get some side quests of the " Go fetch that item from the area you just unlocked and come bask to me for some money and 3 level 3 spell scrolls " type , and you complete them as if suffering from OCD (I mean I completed them only because I feared I would have a hard time finishing the main quest - line , because I would need all the experience points and items they reard me with , I don 't mean to insult people who suffer from OCD) . Anyway ,that 's EXACTLY how they should do it in oeder to create a Baldur's Gate II - like game ,and not like some companies notorious for their scumming practices go like .

Best new RPG

In my opinion this is the best new RPG to come out in years. It plays like 5e, has a great history, great gameplay and is a great inspiration for tabletop GM's

Snooze and *BUMP* Into the Paywall

I'll admit, I did not read the reviews closely enough. I find it (mildly!) irritating when I cannot play the release in its entirety as it was designed all because I have to purchase the privilege to play certain characters. I find this business model distracting and disrespectful of game-players. The game is slow, the movement on the screen is a bit awkward. I created my own characters and raised them to level 5 only to find out I couldn't even use them to start the game--there goes a couple of hours. Not to contradict other reveiwers, but this simply was not, is not a game for me. I have requested a refund from GOG with the encouragment that Studios provide more disclosure to their games. Again, the fault is mine for not reading more reviews. Perhaps I would have saved myself some time and frustration(s).

One of better attempts to showcase D&D

Pretty good game with you come with the right expectations. It is not a high budget cool graphics masterpiece narrative kind of game and it probably doesn't even try to pursue that. Instead, it provides a very close adaptation of tabletop D&D 5e core rules and a somewhat stereotypical but fun adventure resembling ad-hoc pieces your Game Master may have introduces. Main thing that dissapointed me was that the class and feat selection did not fully match PHB and overall lack of content compare to some other games in the similar price category. But definitely can recommend if you are looking for some tabletop adaptation vibes.

Unfinished but has potential

I bought this game on another platform and invested around 20 hours in creating a party and playing the first few quests. I am an experienced D&D player of CRPG's as well as tabletop. At the end of the 20 hours I tried to play the game I just gave up because I stumbled upon the umpteenth problem that would have led to me again recreating one character and restarting the campaign for the thrid time. What is good and what is bad about Solasta: Good: - D&D Setting - Turn based combat - Lot's of dice, if you like that - No fuss story - Clear UI Bad: - Bad tutorial not only for people new to D&D especially paired with the next point - No manual - Spells that do not work in the way you would expect and therfore are useless - Inconstistent and therefore somewhat unbelievable world - Very bad charater creator (it is possible to create badly mamed chars) - No respec feature - No way to replace a character in the party - Bad game camera forcing you to a lot of clicking just to move from a to b - Lots of questions that come up and that do not get answered in game nor are easy tpo find on the WWW My experience led to me thinking this game would have done better staying in EA for some more time.
