SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

I grew up playing this game in rotation with Command & Conquer and TIE Fighter as a kid. I've spent many many hours getting lost in this game and it still holds up very well today. The pixel art is beautiful and the overall aesthetic just screams mid-90s PC gaming. Very comfy. I don't get the people who are leaving 1 star reviews, just because they prefer the Windows 95 version over the DOS version. It's the exact same game. The pixels aren't quite as sharp in the DOS version, but this is barely noticable. Just play it. It was definitely worth the 1.49 I spent.

I've read this issue from others as well: Citizens are not moving in, population remains 0 although electricity, water is in, I have roads, etc. I did everything like in old times. (Win 10)

This game has been around in abandonwware and floppy disk / disquete for decades. I've played it many times but I will end up buying the GOG version because every time I emulated DOS or even used "386" computers, the SC2000 crashed, crashed and freeze! And YES, in the past crashing and freezing were our regular problems but usually it was playable! GOG great work is that they take the time to test if thing work!!!

First time playing for me and it holds up even without the pull of nostalgia. Four stars for the lack of any tutorial - definitely check out the basics of how to play before you start.

DOS version has sharp pixels without anti-aliasing. Also lacking the African Swallow speed (although you can use Alt+F12 in DOS BOX to speed things along).
