Silent Hill 4: The Room is Team Silent's last entry in the titular series. This game changes up the formula established by the last three games in the series, from its tank controls to the UI. I'm not sure they were necessary changes, but I did adapt to them after a few hours of playing and began to enjoy the game a lot more. The narrative is okay by the series standards, the concept of the singular hub and the themes of isolation are unqiue and welcome. Henry Townsend unfortunately is very weak as a character compared to the series' previous protagonists. The atmosphere is still pretty scary, but is missing somewhat of that somber and dreary feeling that previous games excelled at. Unfortunately, while the GoG patch fixed this game's PC port's many problems, it still has a glaring problem with the gamepad, I had to install Zealot's camera mod to adjust the camera sensitivity. Furthermore, the missing hauntings from the PS2 version was restored with the installation of the SH4 Randomizer. The extra steps required were a bummer, and while I had no issue installing them, I could see someone less savvy getting frustrated. Silent Hill 4: The Room is still an experience worth trying, for both fans of the series, and for fans of psychological horror. The DNA of this game is present in works such as P.T. and many modern horror games.

no longer having problem with sensivity issues after this update. game randomly minimize itself. the rest is great. been looking for (playable) pc version for long time. gameplay : only watched gameplays so many times but first time play this one. need a bit adjust on game control and camera.

Haven't even bought it yet but just wanted to say how great of a game it is.

This is what fans have been waiting for. I got tired of trying to emulate the old games. Immediatly had to get it looks very clean and shall do a Let's Play on my Youtube channel @AbsolutelyAmel in case anyone wants to check it out before purchasing! I never finished this game but played the other ones more than once. Now it's time to give this one another go! Konami should definetly re release the others for a reasonable price like this. Much like Resident Evil, Silent Hill HAS to return. The world of gaming horror needs it!
