Silent Hill 4: The Room

I just wanted to write down a couple of things for future buyers. This is the original port of the PS2 game, nothing has changed graphically, but it does come with 1080p/2K/4K widescreen options and it works perfectly, no lag, no bugs/glitches (so far). Furthermore, there is a "Sh4config.exe" in the installation folder which lets you optimize controls for gamepads - I don't know how well it works with the new ones, since I have an old PS1/2 controller with a USB that I've been using for well over 10 years, but that works perfectly. However, I guess most people nowadays would be using PS4/XONE controllers, so keep in mind that you might want to get an older gamepad if you want it to play perfectly. Having played the game some 7 years ago on PC, I remember it being a great game except for the escort part of it which turns out halfway through the game - hence the 4 stars - but if you're looking for a good, old-school, survival horror, you're not going to find a better alternative until they release SH2 & 3 again. P.S. I've never used any fan-patches or mods for this port when I first played it in 2013 and even so I did not have any problems. Considering this is the same version, I doubt you'll be needing any mods/patches. Cheers!

Imagine my suprise when i logged int GOG today. Finally we have some Team Silent on here. There are, in my opinion, 4 silent hill games that every survival horror fan needs to pay. For me personally, this is my 3rd favorite ( after 2 then 1) and as many will know, not even originally meant to be released as a Silent Hill game. It is slightly different from the other games in that it employs a first person perspective for half of the game and is perhaps less of a fan favourite than others in the original series. However, it's still a brilliant piece of work and stands up well compared to most modern horror games. Of course, the 2nd game is probably the pinnacle of the 4 , but this game has something The titular room itself is a wonderful dynamic environment, ahead of it's time in so many ways and beautifully creepy and dream-like. The third person sections are more recognisably silent-hill and look beautifull in 1080. There is something about Team Silents work that just really fascinates me. It's art-house, surreal, obscure, creepy and strangely beautiful. With modern resolution support, perfect controller support and the original amazing soundtrack, this is a must buy not just for original Silent Hill fans but also for anyone who loves creepy slow burning, art-house, lynchian horror or the classic movie "Jacob's Ladder". If you've played "The Room" before, you've probably just bought it here. If you haven't, then I urge you to splash out the reasonable amount asked for and get yourself a slice of cult gaming history. I'm incredibly pleased with GOG for releasing this on here, even more so than MGS. I hope this is indicative of future releases as I'd love to see 2 and 3 on here too.

Support for hoping 1,2 and 3 parts of Silent Hill!!!

Releasing this in October was a good move. It looks like they've added widescreen support, partial controller support, cloud saves, added back in post processing effects that were missing in the original PC release, and changed the FPS of the cutscenes to 30 fps (for whatever reason they were 15fps in the original PC release). So far, this is actually much, much better than the original PC release in my opinion and I'm SO grateful to have a Silent Hill game on PC. If we can some of the other games in the series now, I would be in GOG and Konami's debt. Well done!

Dont make this be a one off release. Do the right thing KONAMI and release 2 and 3.
