Finish it once
Shelter 2 helps you see through the eyes of a mother lynx. It succeeds, until it glitches or when the game repeats itself. The first full play-through is touching. You fight to feed and protect your cubs. Every shortcoming, like a lost or hungry cub is heart-breaking. I was about to tear up near the end of the game. However, repetitive game-play hampers it. When you master the mechanics, the game becomes very monotonous. Hunt, drink water, explore, escape wolves, repeat, repeat, repeat. Glitches straight-up break the immersion. You'll feel like the mother lynx, but then that feeling shatters when your character starts doing hand-stands. You'll feel threatened by wolves until you jump on a plateau and wonder how your cubs just appeared behind you on top of it. Shelter 2 is worth one play-through for the art style and immersion, provided you don't encounter any glitches. Any more play-throughs are redundant due to the game's repetitiveness.
