WTF has happened to you, Serious Sam...

TL;DR It's better than SS2, but worse than any other game in the series. On it's own it stands as a very average shooter at it's best, if you ignore all the story and characters. I'm giving it a below average score because of all the focus on pointless things. Not so TL;DR Take Serious Sam, get rid of beautiful environments and replace them with boring modern ones, then jam a bunch of obnoxious characters and a story into it, top with occasional stutter on a modern hardware and that's SS4. Croteam has forgotten what made SS so great. Back in a day the game WAS cool, because it focused on the gameplay and visual level-design. Now the game TRIES to be cool first and treats gameplay and design as a secondary concern. It honestly feels like the game tries to insist that it is in fact cool, but if you've ever known a person who always acts like they are cool - you know how uncool it actualy comes across. Instead of putting you in a classic environment, you get ruined modern cities. Instead of being alone, fighting hordes of aliens, you are accompanied by a bunch of bad characters. You'd think the game would try to ridicule the idea of having several protagonist-like one-liner-spitting bro-dudes, but no - it does it's best to insist that all of those characters are incredibly cool and you should like them. They are not. And don't even get me started on the story - for the love of fuck - who would ever think to try and put CUTSCENES with DIALOGUE into a fucking Serious Sam game?! The focus was put in the wrong direction and it shows. Shooting is just fine, but everything else, from boring levels to terrible characters and a forced story makes me not want to play this damn game. Serious Sam should be about you, being alone and fighting hordes of aliens across great environments and this ain't it. This feels like a bad EDF game with doped-up graphics. Please play SS 1st Encounter and 2nd Encounter, leave Serious Sam 4 to rot in hell. What a waste of time and money...

Zgubiłem swój but

Przeszedłem grę w całości w kilka posiedzeń i muszę powiedzieć, że na początku gry miałem mieszane uczucia bo pojawiały się cutscenki, dialogi, coś co wydawało mi się nie pasujące do Serious Sama, a jednak mi się spodobało. Gra ma swoją fabułę, misje poboczne, jest tam sporo humoru poziomu Serious Sama, Są sekrety niektóe nawet ciekawe. Mi fabuła się spodobała i to nawet bardzo. W grze jest drzewko umiejętności - bardzo proste, ale zastanwiałem czasem co wybrać. No i najważniejsze - uzbrojenie. Giwery są SUPER czuć kopa i są bardzo efektywne. Jedyny minus broni to kiedy się one pojawiają. Mój ulubiony laser pojawił się blisko końca gry tak samo jak działko, nie miałem możliwości się nim wystarczająco długo pobawić. Dlatego powtórzyłem przedostatni poziom, który był super. Sama ostatnia walka była spoko ale troche po szynach. Gra ma spore wymagania co do procesora, ale po ilości przeciwników jestem w stanie to usprawiedliwić. Grafika jak to zawsze w serious samach na najwyższym poziomie, ale odziwo to muzyka przykuła moją uwage, są wypasione kawałki. Wrogowie rozpryskują się na kawałki, są odrzucane przez eksplozję Odkładałem zagranie w SS4 przez recenzję na YT (yutuberom już wierzę coraz mniej, a serwisom już ani troche), dopiero jak zobaczyłem opinie graczy wiedziałem że muszę zagrać. Grywalność 5/5 Grafika 5/5 Muzyka 5/5 Wartość ponownego przejścia (Replay value) 3/5 - za jakiś czas można przejść ponownie. długość gry 10-20 godz. (normal) (trochę mi brakowało ilości harpii i trochę drażniła mnie ich cenzura) PS. Grałem w nią w pod koniec stycznia i nie natknąłem się na jakiekolwiek błędy. (Patch 1.07) Zdecydowanie POLECAM !!!

Serious Sam the modern way

This game feels like the good old Serious Sam games, but according to the modern graphic standards. The shootouts where pretty challenging (playing in 'hard' mode), with lots of enemies in large open spaces, and made me feel like the good old Serious Sam game I used to play long time ago. At 'hard' difficulty mode the balance between being quite challenging and becoming frustratingly difficult really works for me. There is even some kind of story added to the game that doesn't add that much, but also isn't a big distraction from what Serious Sam is about; shooting at a huge amount of monsters. At my PC it runs like a charm, without any lag or stuttering.

It's Serious after the fixes

I played this after a while, knowing it was a technical disaster on launch. Major bugs have been fixed. Some glitches like texture popping, lighting flashing, and monsters getting stuck are still there. The game is really different from what it was advertised: Open world? No, just very large maps just like in the previous titles. But larger open fields for fights. Legion system? No, just in the last battle. Vehicles? There's a system for it but it's just some vehicle sections. Perk tree? Yeah, they can give you extra firepower and they are fun, it's not an RPG and it's not trying to be. Instead you get: The carnage: there are tides of enemies, more than i could think on previous titles. Many levels have above 1000 enemies, and the last one had only 1800? Trust me, it felt like there were 5000. Soundtrack: awesome as ever Enemy variety: better than 3 and 1, worse than 2. Weapon variety: more than ever. With alt-fires and dual wielding. Graphics: A step down from 3 but allows for huge maps Animations: Clunky and crappy as ever Story: it's generic and spoonfed but who cares, it's enough. Humour: Not too serious, makes you laugh sometimes. Mechanics and design choices: Reloading is bad but dual wielding is fun. Sprinting is fine. The fake jumps you make do not let you avoid projectiles like in previous titles. Maps: HUGE but they don't seem to have the same level of care like the previous titles. Fun: Very fun. And I was prepared for disappointment. This is a Serious Sam game and it's good. I have no serious issues on it as a fan, and bugs didn't plague my experience. I missed these games so much... Main issue is that the marketing team of Croteam made a horrible work, giving light on the worst and most insignificant aspects. I mean: French "open world" map doesn't make sense and it's there because it's in the trailer. It's clear that the marketing team does not know its audience.
