PC and Xbox version alike.
I've played and beaten both versions, they both kick ass, get it. Really good story, too.

A fun (but flawed) mid-2000s curiosity
While it is somewhat forgotten, Second Sight is a game with many qualities. For starters, its production values: the character models, designs and animations are really cool and unique (imagine a Pixar movie if the animators weren't properly medicated), and the visuals, music and voice acting are pretty good overall. The story, which is told in a non-linear fashion, is engaging and well-written: it's rather mature, but despite its dark and unsettling elements, it does not really revel in its own edginess. It's an infiltration game where you spend most of your time avoiding enemies or neutralizing them before they can sound the alarm, the twist being that you get to use powerful psychic powers for stealth, combat and puzzle solving – so basically, it's Metal Gear Solid, but you play as Psycho Mantis! These powers are creatively designed and find various uses throughout the campaign, and there is often a non-lethal way to deal with the situations you're presented with (even though you won't get a bad ending for killing dozens of minimum wage security guards). The level design is slightly inconsistent but solid overall, and for the most part, sneaking though these facilities with the help of the titular power of the “second sight” is a lot of fun!... Except for the combat, which is kind of bad. Perhaps because it was designed with controllers in mind, the gunplay revolves around a mechanic where you have to both lock on to enemies and move the cursor around to target them... And if that's not weird and unsatisfying enough (why can't I just use the mouse to aim?!), the autolock system barely works properly, or at least is really cumbersome to use, often targeting the last thing you'd want to shoot! It's a shame, since the gameplay is otherwise totally decent and functional! If you can get past that, Second Sight is good fun and quite memorable in some regards. I would not call it a gem, but it's a fine example of how unique and creative mid-2000s games used to be!

Fun action and good storytelling
Reviewing the GameCube version. This game has colourful and expressive character animation, fun shooter action sequences, and a load of psychic powers that are fun to explore and abuse. I poured hours and hours into this on Gamecube, and highly recommend it. The game does have its flaws though. First, it's way too easy. I'm a perfectionist, so I'd play sequences over and over to get them "just right", but I also played through once being lazy. You can take about a hundred enemy bullets before you even have to *worry* about maybe dying. And then you can just heal. If you want a challenge, you'll have to invent personal-achievements, like not using your healing power the whole game, or beating it with only your fists and psi-powers. Secondly, the game can have some real problems with its camera system, especially while using the telekineses power in tight areas. I got used to it, but for awhile, you may have to fight the game. This game was one of my favourites, though, on Gamecube and I really hoped that a bug-fixing sequel would have been released by now. It hasn't, so I encourage you to buy this one instead!

Great graphics, difficult gameplay
This game works great and the graphics are excellent, but I find the gameplay is a bit difficult.

Masochistic Camera
This is made by the same people that developed Time Splitters. I really love the character designs, they're unique and offer a lot of personality. The story is also very intriguing as you play as a skeptical scientist who's endowed mysteriously with psychic powers. You live through both current events and flashbacks of the past. The psychic powers are really interesting, letting you lift stuff, take over minds, heal yourself and hit far away switches. The premise and presentation are both great, but the problem with Second Sight is that it's a stealth action game and you often want to remain hidden. The thing is that the camera does NOT want to obey you. The fixed angles are awful and the free camera is unwieldy and twitchy at best. Often times you'll not be able to see patrolling guards and wind up having to fight or run away. I've also experienced numerous crashes with the game at certain parts. Despite the bugs and frustrations this can still be a fun game to experience, though I think Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy has the edge over this one.
