NG+ was not well-thought out
Having owned the Steam version, with most bugs patched out from what I've heard, the core game on default is perfect. Took me roughly 7.0 hours to complete New Game, according to Steam. You slowly get used to your constantly expanding arsenal of skills until (hopefully) you can manage to swing through a complex building full of enemies, killing the boss on your way out. By the time I started NG+, I was much more fluid than I'd previously thought possible. However, that seemed to be as far as the developer's effort to make his game both playable and fun went. Come NG+, levels are more or less exactly the same, with 2 differences; they're now oversaturated with riflemen, and all riflemen now actually move their aims further in your direction while firing. Any one of these changes on its own would be manageable, but together, this forces the player to, at best, rely way too much on RNG/luck to avoid gunfire. It's clear that the dev didn't playtest NG+, but rather just patted himself on the back for adding anything at all beyond NG, and called it a day. I can only recommend buying this if you don't mind a game where its bulk lasts 5 hours, or (in the case of NG+) if you're a masochist who knows full well that you may never finish a game you started, knowing what you were getting into.
