Unofficial patches are needed
What is the point of paying for an item that is damaged? To run this game it is necessary to install unofficial patches and waste time searching for information on the web. If the store offers it as compatible for Windows 10, they should sell a finished product, working well. But, clarify that it has no support.

Needs patch 1.42b to run. (windows 10)
From Gog without the 1.42b patch game does not work. After 1.42b patch game runs perfectly in windows 10. if game does not work for you. I got it from http://www.wolfenstein4ever.de/index.php/downloads/viewcategory/7-rtcw-patches. Good game otherwise. Loads of reviews about it on the internet. If you missed it growing up or are looking at some decent old games that don't require high modern computer specs then this is worth playing. Looks good for it's time. Quake 3 style graphics. Fun game, doesn't take itself too seriously. Hard mode is tough. Remember to hit save a lot.

Golden Era Of Gaming
OK let me start by saying that this game has NOTHING to do with Bethesda. The GOG page for this game states "iD Software and Bethesda". The only reason it says Bethesda is because Zenimax Media bought iD and gave control of the company to Bethesda, but this happened recently, and Bethesda (thank GOD) has nothing to do with this game. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the sequel to the grandfather of modern day FPS games : Wolfenstein 3D. It was released a dull decade after the first game and the genre had come a long way. RTCW makes use of all the evolution and progress which happened from 1992 onwards to bring the player one of the most crisp, fun and challenging single player shooter experience of the era. Using the Quake III engine, the mechanics and gameplay are as fluid as you would expect them to be. RTCW uses a largely unmodified version of the Q3 engine so, unlike other titles which made use of the same engine (such as Medal Of Honor : Allied Assault), the speed and feel remains very similar to the iD's multiplayer masterpiece. There is no pretense here. No tricks. No "wow" moments or pointless immersion breaking cut scenes. This is a shooter from the golden era of PC gaming, and one of the best single player FPS games ever made. It is no frills, pure blood FPS action, PC style. The maps are sprawling and deadly, the enemies will not miss very often and you have to be merciless if you want to progress. Luckily the weapon and shooting mechanics are almost perfect, which will help you on your way but still requires skill and careful planning, especially on the harder levels. The story is cheesy but takes the player to some epic locations which make full use of the engine and the talents of the level designers, from huge outdoor areas to underground, Nazi Zombie infested caverns. That part is a tribute to "Operation Eisenfaust" perhaps. You need to play this game. You should have already played this game. One of the best FPS games ever made.

One of the best
I got RTCW when it first came out and actually purchased an internet connection for the first time to try out the multiplayer. I soon upgraded from a 56k to cable just to play RTCW mp. This remains one of the most fun games I ever played and I continued playing it from release until about 2005. Even after that I continued playing it, but not daily like I did in the years prior. There are many mods and maps available, as well as very good multiplayer bots that even mimic some of the silliness you would see other players doing during matches. The single-player was fun and interesting. I highly recommend this game to anybody who likes shooters, WW2, or just plain fun games. I imagine this is still a favorite at LAN parties... that is if people still have them.

Maybe the best game in the series
The original Wolfenstein 3D is a very nostalgic game for me. After all, it introduced me to World War 2 at the tender age of 6. If I had to be honest, though, I'd say RtCW holds up better by modern standards. When you think about it, it really did improve upon Wolfenstein 3D in every way that matters. This was one of the last great, fast-paced "run n' gun" shooters" before Halo came out and slowed the FPS genre down to a sluggish crawl. The game's graphics still look decent today, thanks to Id Software's legendary Quake 3 Engine. There are minor stealth elements in the game like kinda like The New Order has (though not quite as polished), and the mission variety is diverse enough to keep things fresh. If you like Quake 1+2's singleplayer campaigns or Unreal Gold, this is a must-have in your library.
