Even Better.
RE1 was a fantastic game and RE2 improved on it in every way. This is a great release, had no issues. I'm ok with the mini games being unlocked from the start but kind of took something away of feeling like they were earned and that took away from feeling like they should be completed. Messed around a bit with Tofu, EX Battle, and Hunk but after playing every scenario (and having played this game likely dozens of times over multiple platforms since 1998) didn't feel like putting in the effort to complete them this time. Either way, this game for ten bucks is a steal, it's a must play title that holds up to this day.

Legendary game, but an issue on GOG.
The three RE games have been spectacular releases on GOG. And for 1 and 3 they are now my default go-to versions to play. But RE2 has an issue that will keep me playing the PSX version (for now at least) When RE2 was released on Gamecube, the background images were higher quality than one the original PSX with less compression artifacting. These Gamecube backgrounds are the ones used in the GOG release. The problem with them is that every one of them has been brightenedand colorshifted towards red hues. If you start a game and run over to the gun shop exterior to can see it clear as day. The sky in the top right should be black, but instead is red. I screencaptured all three versions and made this comparison to show what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/a/xkOT9SI If this doesn't bug you, then this port will just as solid as 1 & 3 and you'll have a great time. Personally I'm hoping they'll swap the PSX backgrounds into the game.

Great porr
Great memories from the late 1990s and the gameplay in Resident Evil 2 still holds up today. The remakes are a fun and take the series in a more "modern" direction, if that's your thing, but there's no replacing the old survival horror style of the original series back on the Playstation.
