I love RE and i own the classic trilogy already but i bought them on pc as well because i'm a big fan. The game runs fine but i wish the controller refreshed when you plug a new one in: Let me explain: the controller works great out of the box, however if somehow your controller gets unplugged, it won't be recognized again when you plug it back in, this is very annoying and can ruin some runs if you happen to play with a wireless pad that dies to you in the middle of the game or it gets accidentally unplugged (it happened to me). I also hope that the next releases of RE2 and 3 are more than just the vanilla base game from windows 98, the Japanese Sourcenext versions of the games happen to have the FMV at a very high quality, probably the highest ever released and i'd like to see them for every version of the game, not just the JP source next one. The Windows 98 version of those games ran fine but having the possibility to have your game in your native language AND having those crispy FMVs would make the GOG release the definitive version of these games for PCs (also pls, do not sleep on the Italian releases of those games).

Great game, one of my favorite survival horror games. Having said that the port is just ok, the weird animations and the compressed sound does detract from the experience. If this is the first time you play RE1 do not judge the game by this port. Still a great game just as two and three. However this seems like a barebone effort. The animation skip/acceleration does look weird, not unplayable, just breaks the mood at times. The music might not be audible to everyone, if you do not notice this you might just get by whiteout this bothering you. The version they choose might not be the best version of the game. I saw the announcement and the review, it is a pity that the review didn't mention this obvious points, except for the version. So the game is playable and it is a good game, but not close to the best version of the game. I hope GoG can take the time to improve to the best of their ability the issues many have risen. I think most agree that this is a welcomed effort. I am not refunding this since I wish this kind of efforts to happen in the future, but I will be a little more cautious next time.

I've waited a long time for this! Altough i have all the remakes, the classic games are masterpieces that will never be overcome. The atmosphere, the dense sensation those games will never be beat by the tech today, no matter how beautifull graphics are. PLEASE RELEASE THIS ON MODERN CONSOLES. I am not a PC player but i bought this to show that the old fans, the ones that kept the brand alive, cheered for this for a long time. We do have RE1 Remake wich is the definitive RE for me, but its amazing to have original RE2 and RE3 in their glory again. Make it for modern consoles, and i will buy it again for my Xbox Series.

1. Shame on GOG for having to have a fan tell them how to fix the speed-up bug that's been known (and a fix known) for a very long time. I hope they paid the guy, because I don't doubt I was the only one who had refunded this at first for such an obvious lack of effort. (But good on GOG for at least giving him credit in the post.).  2. That fixed; this is a solid release. Minus 1 star for the audio and FMVs. I imagine Capcom owns the rights to the higher-quality ones, and since they gave permission to sell this, I'm sure they could give permission to use the higher-quality audio and FMVs (easily accessible).  3. Thankfully, the Japanese version is included, and it is compatible with the patches that make the PC version the best (gem patch, HD, ect.).  4. All in all, thank you, GOG, for giving us (apart from the ten people that have legit PC copies) the means to buy this gem and having the version included to use the mods there are. Please do what you have to do to have 2 and 3 be the mod freindly versions. Capcom seems on board with this whole thing (they're letting you sell these), so I don't see why they wouldn't let you use the good versions of 2 and 3 (unless they're that foolish that they didn't stipulate they retain the rights to those versions of 2 and 3).  5. After a couple decades now it's amazing how AMD users are still surprised by driver issues (and it is a driver issue being that Nvidia and Intel are not having the problem).

and you can easily replace the sound files for a laugh
