Deer Diary:
Munday: Well, we crash-landed that UFO in the desert and Bubba says he wants to go home. Heck, I don't blame him 'cause there ain't no place like Hickston. But according to my map, we're gonna have to blast our way through jack o' lope farms and a riverboat as well as a brothel (Bubba can't wait) 'fore we get home again.
Toosday: Met new folks like Daisy Mae (she's purty). Bikers, pigs, cows and jack o' lopes. I think I even saw the King at the Slurp n' Burp.
Winsday: Yeehaw! Got to joyride in a Swamp Buggy and a motorcycle that were both armed to the teeth. I hope those peoples I ran over will be alrite. I still got a darn jack 'o lope stuck in the grill though.
Thersday: New ways to destroy stuff! I found over 10 weapons like a crossbow that shoots dynamite-loaded chickens and a slingblade. Mmmm-Hmm!
Fri-day: Sure am hungry! I just need some good ol' redneck powerups like pork rinds, cow pies and some of my granpappy's moonshine!
Saterday: Boy I sure so like those toe tapping tunes by that good ol' boy Mojo Nixon.
Sunday: Heck! With all the new places we been, I sure wish my kinfolk could've come along for the ride!

Meh
Archaic shooter based on the Build engine, with none of the charm or strong design of Duke Nukem 3D. Essentially a one-joke wonder that grows old really, really quickly. I gave it an extra star simply for the inclusion of a great punkabilly sound track.

It sucks, but I'd like a remake.
I bought this game on sale for $3.39. And I will never get that money back. I played through the entire game and it was worse than bad. It was boring. And I don’t want that in a game about rednecks fighting aliens for a pig. The weapons in this game either don’t work or feel unsatisfying, or both at the same time. Enemies don’t feel fun to fight against. The health and “armor” in this game are replaced by a weird and annoying alcohol and gut meter. Levels are confusing and tedious to get through and some of the levels don’t even feel like they belong in this game. Why are we inside a creepy abandoned asylum when this is supposed to be a light-hearted game? Civvie 11’s video about RR goes into more depth as to why it sucks major ass. I played this game all the way through and I’ll never get that time back. I thought it would be fun based on the GOG reviews, because there were some people that did play this game and had fun. But their tastes are different from mine, and that is entirely fair. But I not only don’t like this game, I HATE it. I refuse to even touch the expansions past the first 20 minutes because they’re more of what I hate about this game. HOWEVER. I think the biggest thing that this game has going for it is the attitude. This game OOZES that gun-toting redneck country punk vibe that I absolutely love. If they remade this game and made it look and play properly and gave it fitting themes for levels, I’d be down for that, no questions asked. I know that the expansions did go in that direction, and I think if a game were to follow in this game’s shit-heeled footsteps, they should take the redneck gimmicks and such and just RUN with it. This game sucks, to that I can’t deny. But I know that this game’s concept had so much potential, but it just didn’t tap into that, and that’s the painful spiked cherry on top. Avoid this game like the plague.

Some good fun
If you enjoy shooting things and hawing fun when doing it this may be the perfect game for you. I know it is for me.

Buggy mess
To be clear i got a refund but i still wasnt impressed with the game as it was, its your standard build engine shooter which i dont mind however it has one annoying feature which is the health/alcohol system that makes the game unnaturally difficult by skewing your vision and controls the more you need to heal which can make avoiding some damage impossible and one would think to combat this that the weapons hit like a truck but they are about as useful as a flyscreen on a submarine but thats just the base game alone. Now for the bugs i encountered, now for context i find build engine shooters are pretty good but this one couldnt even show the full menu which made for some really annoying issues in itself as i couldnt rebind any keys that annoyed me. As a bonus whenever i quit the game it would freeze my screen for an undisclosed amount of time and often i had to use task manager to fix it. The cherry on the cake of failures was when I tweaked resolution settings which caused the game to ignore my keyboard controls entirely and I once again had to use task manager to exit. So in summation to be clear I am aware running dosbox etc on newer machines can cause bugs on newer os but I have never seen one that screws up as bad as this does.
