Beautiful but flawed
A beautiful game let down by super flawed controls, gameplay mechanics and poor balancing. If you want something similar but good get everspace 2

Excellent Space Privateer Game
So, I started playing Wing Commander Privateer as a palate cleanser, but got frustrated with the older interface. This is the perfect successor. The controls are well set up for my keyboard and mouse. The music sets a great space-western tone, and the option to go straight, pirate, or something in between is well managed. You've got a few times you have to go on whichever side of the law you didn't choose, but it's great to just sit down and blow up evil spaceships.

It's not rebel galaxy
(bought on Epic) I hear the it's Privateer and it's Freelancer ppl. I loved those games. I even liked privateer 2, but I didn't want those games, I wanted Rebel Galaxy TWO. Instead I got another X clone. The game isn't bad at all. nut what made Rebel Galaxy so popular is it filled a niche that rarely gets attention, 2d space combat trading econ sandbox. This is 3d space combat trading econ sandbox and .. so what? My drives are filled with them.

Disappointing
There are not enough single player games like this but this is not a great game. The UX kind of sucks in general and space combat is very poorly done. On the concourse - purchasing ships has no comparison view - the interface outfitting the ship is possibly done in the laziest way possible. - the bar and trading could have been done a LOT better Space combat - This would have been bad space combat 10 years ago. - bad graphics, controls, physics, etc... Unfortunately there are very few games like privateer - single player, ships, trading, space combat, etc... - and so this gains a star for trying otherwise it would be a 1 star game instead of 2. The game was cheap though so it's not worth requesting a refund.
