Worth it

Very well polished 3d platformer. No section nor mechanic is stretched out to long, combat while basic works well. Boss fights are creative and fun. Remminicent of the classic boss fights of the past. Some great charm with the characters. With no bugs from me beating the game. Jokes and humor and mostly good, with a couple over the levels being a bit cringe. With the only other critique I have being the sometimes sometimes lofty movement. Its a inctance where you think you can change direction eaily mid air but you can't situation. Takes some getting use to but can still catch you off guard. Graphics are extremly well done. It won't win awards in textures and sheer horsepower. When makes the graphics excell is the art style, color palet, lighting, and overal execution. With no execive bloom or blinding light affects to distorty you which is something I greatly appretiate. Overall its a great homage to the 3d platformers of the past. Levels are meaty enough to give you the satisfied feeling needed to justify the price point. Highly recommended if you are a fan of the genre.

A Surprisingly Fun Little Medievil clone

This was a game I wasn't expecting at all. For the first time that comes to mind, a game that seems heavily inspired by Medievil/Medievil II back from the ps1 days! (Which happens to be my favorite PS1 game of all time, alongside Powerslave.) But I'm not here to review that game. Here you star an anthropomorphic... pumpkin?? named Jack. You'll be platforming, hacking and slashing your way through lots of beautifully designed levels as well as collecting items. I don't like this more than Medievil, though this is definitely worthy of being a game in the series if possible. Jack feels decent to control... at least with a controller. With a kb/mouse he feels kinda weird and this is very typical with newer games not being optimized well for PC controls at all. The gameplay and visuals seem a bit more inspired by the ME remake rather than the original which is both a good and a bad thing imo. Bad bc I think the old, more gothic Tim Burton art style appealed to the game far better than the more fantasy art style the remake had. But good because the gameplay shares more similarities and is more fine-tuned to hold up higher than the others. You can change the camera without Jack himself turning which I like since you can see his face if you want. Makes for some really beautiful screenshots. The mechanics are solid and the game overall is alot of fun. The levels are a bit more vertical than your average platformer, which I like a lot, and the characters/environments are just stunning to look at. The dynamic lighting, the glow effects of the water, even the colors around the world in shades of green and purple, it's all just pure eye candy. This might be one of my favorite games of the year, if not my favorite. So yeah, this is an awesome game but go into it with a slightly open mind if you're a die hard Medievil fan, and moreso if you liked its PS4 remake. For anyone else, especially to those who are dying for a good "new" 3D Platformer, this should be a no brainer!

Fun, short and sometimes frustrating

The game is very fun, but sadly also very short. The game has 6 levels (which takes a little over 30 minutes each). The game has some fun gameplay (it took me back to the PS2 gameplay years), but sometimes the controls felt a little too clunky. Also things like the racing can be very frustrating. But I do like the game and wish it was a little longer :) Tip for the developers: Remove the "leave a rating on Steam" button out of the GOG version, we don't have this game on Steam for a reason :)

An unexpected surprise, but a great one

An amazing piece of work from a one man team, great animations, gameplay and graphics it will surely scratch your itch for great platformers. You can expect nice 6-10 hours of gameplay, depending on how completionist you want to go and your skill level. I couldn't reccomend more if you are looking for a fun game to remind you of when games were actually fun and not mediums to milk as much money out of you as possible and keep coming back as a second job.

Fun!

Great platformer with tight controls, cool graphics and nice soundtrack. It's on the easy side, so if you are looking for a challenge this is not the game for you, but that's a huge plus for me: I've never felt frustrated while playing, I spent the whole time relaxed and having fun. The only thing that I didn't love were the cinematics in between the chapters. Although they're well animated and narrated, they simply serve as a recap of what just happened, making them quite pointless. This comes from a solo developer, which is even more amazing. I'd love to see a sequel with a bigger budget and more people working on it, but not a too many. Let's say nough to be able to flesh out the levels, maybe with the addition of a few genre tropes like hub worlds, more collectibles and NPCs... but not too many that the awesome home-made labor of love feeling gets lost).
