Prince has to face his most fearsome opponent yet. The mythical beast
Dahaka won’t rest until our hero is dead. In his struggle for survival the
Prince ventures onto the mysterious and foreboding Cursed Island, where he
faces a horde of dark, demonic creatures. Fortunately, our hero isn’t the
boyscout he used to be. With his newly found inner badassdom and a new
arsenal of deadly weapons and fighting techniques, he’s ready for whatever
danger he might encounter. Or is he?
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within builds a new layer of depth and
complexity on the dynamic combat system of it’s predecessor, The Sands of
Time. Freeform fighting mechanics combined with a wide range of swords,
axes, maces and even improvised weapons will allow you to slay your foes
with style!
The Prince is back in his darker, brutish incarnation.
Special moves and ranged attacks in a new, dynamic combat system.
Environments to bedazzle your eyes and puzzles to strain your mind.

You're better off emulating the ps2 version, this one got a lot of audio glitches that harm the experience. It's a great game, but gets boring without the music.
Music is greatly undervalued in games. When the series took this darker turn, was when I realised games could convey story just as good as, if not better than, movies. It could've been a mistake. It could've been shallow and filled with meaningless gore. But the soundtrack had the heaviness to give the whole experience an action movie feel (like 300, Gladiator and similar movies) without being so metal-driven as to scare players away.
The 2 things I'll always remember is the first time the menu started up (Wow!) and the first boss fight. In my opinion no game has blended tight controls and musical theme this well.
I have conflicting feelings about this game. This seems like a game that I should get into, as it has all the hallmarks of games in the past I have loved, that being games with fantastic gameplay and a dark story and setting, but I just could not get into it.
Let me just say that the gameplay is phenomenal and a huge step-up from Sands of Time. More acrobatic moves and combos make combat a joy instead of tedious. The platforming (as it should) is intact and well-implemented.
The bads mostly stem from game design. The dark tone and story would normally be given a plus from me, but considering how much I liked the prince's character in the last game, it made him just unlikeable in my eyes, as he went from being humorous and light-hearted to very serious. Actually, I didn't like any of the characters in this game. None of them had any quirks or moments that made me warm to them. Although, considering there are only 4 of them, I wouldn't call it too much of an issue.
Ultimately, I just found the game boring. The game constantly makes you backtrack to closed-in areas since it only takes place in a single castle, and the confined level design, familiarity, and drab colors made it boring to explore, a far cry from the other two, which felt like going on a journey rather than a walk through a neighborhood.
I would still recommend this game because of the gameplay, but it's not the best one in the series as far as I'm concerned.
If you loved Sands of Time, this game is a no brainer, but if you're new to the series, play Sands of Time first. I always thought that Sands of Time never needed a sequel, but Ubisoft, somehow managed to make a sequel out of it and twist it 90 degrees. Gameplay wise, it's still as awesome as ever and it has an even better and bloodier combat system than it's predecessor, but story wise... from time to time you'll want to throw the damned prince over a cliff on purpose, I didn't liked his brooding change over his charming happy go lucky self from Sands of Time.
So, it all boils down to this, if you loved Sands of Time and you're curious to see how the story unfolds, up to it's stellar ending of The Two Thrones, then by all means, buy this and enjoy it, but if you've felt that Sands of Time didn't needed a sequel, then skip it, or wait until the much, much better The Two Thrones.
Protip: The game has 2 endings, seek every nook and cranny to get the better ending.
Other reviews already mentioned that the gameplay is amazing.
But for me also the setting is way better than the fairy tale setting of the predecessor. This game is really dark and I like it. The soundtrack is also amazing. Heavy metal mixed with oriental vibes. It's like 300 as a game.
A real classic that aged well. 15 years later it plays as fluently as it did back then. Buy it. Now.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
