This game provides quite a challenge and is not for the soft of heart. This game is quite morbid in its humor with the main character saying sadistic yet funny one liners to the dying people around him. There isn't much plot to this other then your house has been repossessed and you have gone insane and must kill everyone to survive. This game is perfect for those with a dark sense of humor and those who are into over the top violence.
I have Postal, Postal2 and Paradise Lost and I love all of them, my favorite games and I keep replaying in higher and higher difficulty levels. There are so many places to explore and the maps are extremely helpful. If you just want a shooter where you can shoot this is the game for you. Most other games are good shooters, but get you lost in a story and nothing happens till you get to the next checkpoint and that to me is boring. Postal is open but will "herd" you to a specific route in many cases so you don't get lost and bungle around for a long time. The variety of weapons is amazing and some can be suicidal. The ones that shoot fire or the gas cans for example. But you can pee on yourself to stop the fire from killing you. Yes, you can pee on people and yourself. A very useful thing is catnip for speeding yourself up in really nasty firefights. Collecting cats is very good thing to do too. I have about 160 hours on the games so far and expect to have a lot more over the winter. One thing though, in Paradise Lost on my laptop, I hit a glitch where I couldn't continue. I don't know what that is about as it works fine on my tower. The laptop is a gaming laptop so it has enough oomph to run a game like Paradise Lost. It is immaterial though. Another nice feature is you can look to see your statistics on kills and the like. My highest body count is 2200+ so far. You don't have to kill people, but at some point they will start trying to kill you. You can pick up medkits for health and food items too that give you increments of health. People drop money when you kill them and in Paradise Lost you can use vending machines for health and weapons. You can also get armor. It does have goals you need to complete along the way. Again, if you want a shooter without a lot of bother, this is it!!!!
How easy in this day and age to simply add some sort of mouselook into this game? Honestly, this game is genuinely quite fun, and just acts like a top down Postal 2, which is good, however, if you're like me and like to play nearly every game with a mouse AND keyboard, then you're shit out of luck. This game does support mouse, however it's so poorly implemented and butchered that it's just not fun. The game itself is very fun, kinda reminds me of the older GTA's but, surprisingly it's more fun. The character models and art design are great, the overall design of the controls are awful. I hear the updated Postal on steam implements mouselook, but here it's nearly unplayable with it. It took me so long to realise you can only go LEFT AND RIGHT with the mouse(!!), pointing the mouse in any other direction makes Postal Dude spin out of control and forces you to quickly drag the mouse left or right to either walk straight or shoot your intended target. Using the arrow keys or WASD to move is also completely butchered, forward isn't locked to where you're stood facing, so it basically shoots itself in the foot by making mouselook almost useless! I can't even recommend using a game pad to play the game because the mouselook is still works it way in. I managed to play the first level using my Xbox 360 controller, but it took me at least 4 tries due to the plain dumb control scheme which caused me to die time and time again. Overall, it is a decent game, and can be quite fun, however this should be a game you play to let of some steam after a shit day at work, however the controls will infuriate you even more! It's sad the enhanced edition never made it onto GOG, because I much prefer GOG to steam. Kinda sad, I can't recall a single person that had heard or played this game back in the day and I think the controls had a big part to do with that. I have no idea why GOG are selling this for £4.69, that is simply way too much you can just buy it on Steam for £1.60. Shame, man.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
