Do Rotodaton

Otóż w tej grze prawie w ogóle nie trzeba walczyć. Można, jak najbardziej, tylko że tu chodzi o chłonięcie fabuły, poznawanie historii Bezimiennego, jego towarzyszy, oraz otaczającego ich świata i NPC-etów. Większości natarczywych (nie przeczę) przeciwników idzie uciec, a sama walka, rzeczywiście dość często do najprostszych nie należy. To nie jest typowy RPG-eg, gdzie tniemy hordy wrogów i dostajemy za nie xpeki, te ostatnie są małe, a i grind lichy. Za to mamy "morze" tekstu, który zapada w pamięć i nie pozostawia obojętnym.

Lackluster enchancing of a amazing game

To be honest, this so called "Enhanced Edition" isn't enhancing a lot. Features like modern windows support, bug fixes and widescreen resolution were already coverd for years by fan-made patches. Only thing that is brand new is ability to zoom in and out. Amazing..... Wich really is a shame because on base level it still is one of the most unique and enthralling Crpg-s ever made. A 11/10 game, with unrivaled plot and atmosphere. Playing as "The Nameless one" you will expolre inns and outs of your own soul in quest not to save the world, but to *understand youself* and redeem mistakes and crimes of your MANY past lifes. Oh, and the city of Sigil itself. It's trully rare for western RPG to base it's setting NOT on any already existing earth culture, but to create something compleatly new. Oddities and wiredness are encountred on every step of the journey yet they all fit into lore and feel of the game. And with abscence of fictional relligions, philosopies take the wheel. And game is choked full of intresing questions and opinions to think about. It's not a perfect game, some aspects like combat and part of the story where you have to travel outside of sigil arent as amazing as the rest of the game. But even they aren't bad per se. Just not as great as rest of the game, where bar for such thing is set preety high. And heck, it that is not convicing, name one other game where you can learn how to talk with zombies, ha :D .

Incredibly creative and powerful writing

In Torment, you play as a man who is unable to die and roams Sigil, a city at the center of the multiverse, to uncover his true identity and recall the past lives he has forgotten all about. I can't dissect everything PS:T's narrative offers based on this strange premise: let's just say that it's an epic journey full of memorable moments and great, unconventional characters. The world and story are wonderfully weird and insanely creative, constantly throwing strange creatures, improbable situations and mind-bending revelations at you, all of this in service of a surprisingly deep plot that tackles themes such as the worth of life or how our identity is formed. It's also bloody hilarious at times! The visuals still look good, and their crazy architecture and great details do a great job of depicting this strange world: if you're into bizarre fantasy, you HAVE to play Planescape: Torment. Period. But to be honest, the same level of effort was not invested in the gameplay: while the controls are easy to handle, the game is full of okay-ish mechanics that work fine, but kind of tarnish an otherwise fantastic experience! PS:T is at its worst when it forces you into combat, which always consists in chaotic, confusing melees, and despite being based off Dungeons and Dragons, it sadly never made me excited for character upgrades and new equipment. On occasion, it can also be tricky to advance the plot, since many quests are not very open-ended and demand to be solved in one very specific manner, such as talking to a particular and seemingly unrelated NPC. Otherwise, this “enhanced edition” does not seem to alter the original content, allows you to run the game in hi-res, and adds options that make it slightly more player-friendly, which is what you'd want from it. While a bit more would have been appreciated, it is a good way to experience this for the first time: if you can get over the more half-baked elements, you have here a true gem that will leave its mark on you!

It works, no fiddling required!

I wont go into how good a game Planescape torment is. Torment is a venerated and much loved title that has survived its status for nearly 20 years. Sadly, the tech hasn't been kind to it and the original game is a pain (often) to play on modern systems... In comes the Enhanced Edition that aims to fix that. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv0U-oG6SZM Text: With the main draw of the EE being a set of changes designed around improving gameplay stability in terms of crashing, bugs and the like and secondary adding some much needed quality of life changes to bring the game closer to current day standards. I'm happy to say that the title does a mostly good job in this regard. Gameplay stability is excellent with no signs of bugs, crashes or save file corruption, and most importantly the game adds much needed high-resolution support. It also adds a bit of a wonky FPS setting system allowing you to change the FPS from 30 to 40 or 50... which is baffling as to why the most common of them - 60 - isn't available. Also, while support for high end resolutions is excellent.. it has no way to change it in the options menu. A bit of a strange oversight, while many other options are available just fine in the menu. Moving on there are a few issues i have with the character models and monster sprites on high resolutions, and this is mostly to due to the choppy animations (same as original game) and limited quality of the models they are working with. This doesn't change that the world and scenery look absolutely fantastic, and with the improved resolution support the UI is very cleanly readable. Overall, if you've never played Planescape torment this is an excellent way to get going and if you want to revisit the old lands and legends - at the price point of $20, this is worth every penny for a simple and easy "works out of the box" enhanced edition of the same beloved title form yesteryear.

Boring first 8 hours, obsessive 40 hours

This game will leave you feeling completely lost, constantly. When this happens, either explore or visit the museum. Your first playthrough will be around 45 hours. Your second? 25. Completely genius writing (second only to Vampire - The Masquerade - Bloodlines), my favourite fantasy world, genius quests, incredible visual style, more and more. I don't think I've ever played a book so good, this actually got me into reading books for the first time. Give it a good chance, have some patience, and you'll find something unforgettable.
