Great game, some needless lore dumps

Wonderful old-school art style, and music (both wandering and combat) reminds me to the best themes and songs of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series. Story is a bit ´heavy´ for me sometimes and there are some ingame lore dumps I'd have preferred to learn in a some immersive way but overall this is a 4.7 out 5. I wish the mechanics were even more similar to Baldur's Gate however but after some time you can get used to them. Well done game.

Absolute classic!

Both of these games were instant classics in my opinion. I love the universe, the story, the art, all top notch. Out of the 150 hours i dumped into my playthrough of this, i never got bored. If you like Isometric cRPG's, youll love POE: 1 and 2!

Good RPG with intersting storyline

I purchased Pillars of Eternity because I really love similars games. I spent many hours playing (and replaying) Baldur's Gate, Icewind dale, etc. I really like how it's done, the perspective, stories and managing a band of different characters. When I tried to play Pillars for the first time, It was quite ... I was not able to get into it so I gave up after few hours. I tried it again expecting it would be better (it's just a different world, mechanics, etc) so I kept playing reaching a point when I was uncovering the main storyline and getting more into the game wanting to learn more and finish it. The game is really great, I like the story and how it's done (I would say that some mechanics are done better than in Baldur's Gate), but sometimes I had feelings that the game is quite unbalanced. Some fights were really difficult even on the highest level, some were very easy. Also the end was like ... I was expecting something different. But overall, it's a great successor of other similar games.

Not bad, but pretty boring

It's a game that takes the Infinity Engine and really improves upon it. So a big plus for me there, as I've enjoyed iE games in the past (and continue to do so). The main problem is the game is just... quite boring. Quest are boring, main story boring, joinable NPCs boring. I'm also not really feeling the classes. Maybe there are some hidden gems in there, but meh. And what's the deal with the dual health system? I just don't get it.

Just a great CRPG with only minor flaws

Almost done with my first play through and it was a blast - it is a fairly streamlined experience and characters and story are very enjoyable. I have two gripes with the game, everything else is fabulous in my opinion: 1) I aint playing this on anything but easy difficulty - since you cant keep enemies from rushing your back line in any way you have very limited tactical choices in many fights. 2) balancing your characters' equipment in the end game is a pain in the rear - not sure how, but comparing items should be easier imo. For the rest fantastic game - get it :)
