The Inevitable Excess DLC will take players on a new adventure set just before their triumphant victory over the Worldwound. The new story will require all the hero's high-level abilities and mythic powers to battle nigh on invincible opponents.
Players will answer the call of Valmallos, a powerful being from another plane of existence who is determined to stop an impending threat to the universe.
Play a new story that complements the main campaign storyline and takes+C27 about 7–8 hours. Import your character from the main campaign with all their companions, or create a new one to find out what exactly has troubled the keeper of magic.
At the beginning of the adventure, your character will have a high level — both standard and mythic. Fight new mythic opponents who threaten the peace of the planes. Use your entire arsenal of mythic abilities!
Visit Axis — the birthplace and home of the inevitables, the machine aeons, exploring every corner of this plane and finding your way through a dungeon full of dangers.
Export your achievements to the main campaign! After you complete this DLC, new powers will become available to your character in the main campaign right before the official start of the Fifth Crusade.
New opponents await you, ready to test your righteous wrath. But remember, not everything may be as it seems at first glance. Sometimes friends can betray you, and old enemies lend a helping hand.
Was this done by a different team than the main game? The main game was outstanding, this is a confused sloppy mess that isn't worth your time or effort. Avoid unless you hate yourself, in which case, go nuts.
Main game? REALLY GOOD. This? Pile of steaming Sh!t. No offense.
I really wonder who designed this dlc, does NOT have the vibe of the main game at all, so many really weird puzzles, much wasted time trying to find the solutions, often bugging out so u end up having to google the solutions anyways, find out u WERE Doing it correctly, but the game decided to bug out, many 'blocked' areas when using new teleport skill (when not actually blocked, just angle of camera) - constantly zooming back in, but u NEED to be zoomed out to even see where to go, and on top of it all (more bugs) constant 'wrong alignment' when trying to cast any kind of healing... on a character u let the damn AI build (So was NPC with his own alignment and only spells selected for him)
And not a tiny bit of fun. DID NOT enjoy it one bit. Really felt like a 'bad dream' thing (which is what I am going to head cannon my experience of it lol)
Very, VERY glad I never paid full price for this. Again - Main game is TOTALLY WORTH IT. but this dlc is not. (You can prob buy main game + though the ashes and ignore the rest to save a few bucks)
Only reason u would want THIS turd is for the DLC items u can get from it, and if u are ok with a little editing, u can just give your characters those items with toybox. Don't bother with DLC.
I guess I was overly optimistic when I hoped for something different and more polished. This is pretty much what you can expect from an Owlcat DLC:
- cheesy enemies with bloated stats. Make 2 of them then copypasta 15 times to populate the unnecessarily big dungeon. Honestly, you can tell what you're walking into, when you see totally different enemies Quicken True Strike every round, If you're fighting 8 enemies then that's really 2 enemies copypasted 4 times. Expect same 5 enemies spamming Tsunami and Prismatic Spray every round indiscriminately, covering the entire combat area with aoes. All enemies have Winds of Vengeance as a buff for whatever reason and move at 100 mph. Same lazy and primitive AI as in the main campaign, with worse enemy variety and placement.
- convoluted level design with teleport-style navigation. Seriously what's with the "teleport-style" puzzle/navigation all the time??? I thought we all had enough of this with Varnhold's Lot. But then I think I can answer that myself: another trick to prolong play time.
- non-existent story or player-agency
- pay-2-win rewards for completing the DLC - extra overpowered items/powers in main campaign
This may sound harsh but at this point I think Owlcat just has no idea how to make a little side story that is compelling and fun to play through. Back then I thought Varnhold's Lot was mediocre, but it may actually be the best story DLC they've released
The maxed out level right off the bat may serve as a build-testing mechanic, but that's about it. This is like what you have left when you take away a branching story and just about anything else you may find enjoyable from the main campaign.
The dlc allows to test many high level characters builds and the story is really interesting.
Unfortunately it seems that the developers have put as little effort as possible in terms of level design, the dungeons are boring and unnecessary complicated, with repetitive fights with enemies which lacking of variety.
Worse there are no safe places, therefore the only way to reduce corruption is find some relics.
Perhaps least patient players will lower the difficulty to the story mode, because the whole experience reminds the Enigma dungeon; lasts but not least the ending is really disappointed, only two slides with little text.
Take it only with an massive discount or with the definitive edition.
Purchased on the other platform. Almost quit before getting to crusade mode due to the childishness of the characters. Stuck it out and was rewarded by less of what I found annoying, then quickly got bored to tears by the crusade management. Put it on auto-pilot, which significantly improves the gameplay. Now it seems I no longer have access to fast travel, which makes the game tedious to the point of no longer being fun. Will I be able to rest in upgraded forts? Not sure if I care at this point. My computer exceeds the recommended specs, yet the loading times are horrible.
Were it not for these serious flaws it would be a good game. As it stands, it's poorly conceived, poorly implemented, and poorly optimized.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
