RCT nostalgia

This is (almost) what you think you see: a modern reincarnation of RCT. You'll find familiar rides and classic tracks, themes, mechanics and more... for that I'd give it 5 stars. ...but Parkitect tries to go beyond its predecessor, tweaking a lot of things and introducing new mechanics you have to deal with. And there, beyond the nostalgia, lies the caveat. The campaign is quite financially punishing, you can't play it witout gaving a 'strategy' and you certainly must know what you're doing. Tutorial doesn't teach you how to manage your park or make it profitable, only how to build it. I struggled in tutorial because for some reason you can't deviate from the path they want you to take AT ALL, down to the placement of every item and pipe, elevation included. Duh. Another thing I found exhausting is ad micromanagement: I spent more time managing my ads than building my rides. And without ads you'd go under very fast. Also I miss the ability to ride the coasters... I miss it very much. That's why I give it 4 stars. A new version of RCT with some issues is better than none at all :)

Like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, but better!

Like many people, I was disappointed with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. It just didn't capture the charm and feel of RCT1&2. Parkitect however feels like it is a spiritual successor to RCT1&2, what RCT3 should have been. This game is an exceptional experience and if you enjoyed RCT1&2, you will enjoy this one! Buy with confidence!

Made me smile

It makes me think of my youth where I played roller coaster tycoon. This feels as if embodies the same spirit but in a modernized coat. Lovely!

A good spiritual successor to RCT

If you enjoyed the Roller Coaster Tycoon games, then you're going to love this game too! It takes all the solid basics and improves on them. For example, you can freely change the length and size of ride segments such as curves, slopes and loops, as well as the banking, allowing you to absolutely go nuts with your designs. Also, tunnels are built automatically when you intersect with the ground or water, which allows cool things like vertical loops that are half-underground. The decoration feature where you have to hide "unsightly" buildings behind scenery is surprisingly fun to deal with too. The only thing I really miss is that there's no feature to ride your coasters. But apart from that, this is a really great game.

The real spiritual successor to RCT 1+2

Excellent game as well as a fun design challenge. Takes all the fun elements from RCT and expands on them while introducing some new, like extended employee management, use of decorations having a direct effect on the guest experience and a much bigger set of goals and premises for scenario building. The graphics are charming and cartoonish, but functional and effective. In fact, I'd say that a well designed park in Parkitect is at least as nice and satisfying to look at as anything built in Planet Coaster. If you like world watching or if you have fond memories from RCT or games of that kind, OR you just want to support indie developers of good games, then don't hesitate. But as others have said, consider buying it in Steam for easier access to mods, rides and community made extras.
