Many people has posted complaints here, as others have praised the game. I will not repeat the details in the game, as the game is already well described by other reviews. What I must say is that, although evidently dated, this game is still today (2013) one of the best, if not THE best tank sim ever. Of course, it is hard to master, as the management of the tank is a complex thing. But that is where this game shines: all complexities are there, making it feel VERY REALISTIC.
I strongly sugest it for those who want a realistic tank sim.
This is a proper tank simulation. They don't make those any more. Maybe they don't have to, because this one is as good as it gets. Sure, the graphics are dated, but the mechanics are rock solid.
One of the best things about this one is the modding community. Over the years these people created graphics updates, a whole host of additional scenarios, vehicles, sound sets (great stuff, get them. Enemy fire ricocheting off your vehicle's armour is a terrifying sound).
Of course the learning curve is steep, this is a simulation after all. To help you with this you can adjust the realism pretty smoothly with various options.
If you're into tanks, if you're into ww2 tank simulations you have to get this one. It's the king of kings in this genre.
P.S.: If you ever see or played Panzer Elite Action games, forget about those. They're trash. This one is a proper simulation and brilliant.
I've wanted this game since I was younger, having played the demo. Comming upon it here, I snapped it up, some decades later. Unfortunately, while this may have been one of the best Tank Sims around, today, it's not very friendly. There is absolutely no in game tutorial, no training missions. So while the game ran okay, I could not in any way shape or form, meaningfully "Play" the game. If you've played it before and still remember how to, this may be perfect for you. But for someone new to the game, I can't recommend it.
A very good game for WW2 tank sim lovers as there are very few. Dated graphics and sometimes cluncky interface but a very active community of modders check the PEGD forum where you can get the latest mods with improved graphics, ballistics , models etc. The only WW@ sim alternative is Steel Fury Kharkov 1942 tank sim; absolutely fantastic but only SP.
have windows 10, 64 bit, installed and plays good. can max its resolution in the game. very fun to play even just the quick matches are fun. yes, it takes awhile to learn the keyboard commands and that but, it really isn't all that hard. the bare games graphics i admit are a little on the shady side, and 4 sure the bots/AI get in your way just like some online tank games i have played lol. its not the greatest and its not bad either. probably better tank games out there. the game must have been something when it was originally released.
and you have the GOG games add ons, Xtras to install (good luck with that), that greatly improve the graphics and textures in this game (thanks to the many developers out there who contributed them). there are a few more on the web that are great. with many more missions.
GOG just didn't include a step by step instructions how to install them and use the "Mod Enabler" it took me awhile to figure it out. and now it seems easy to use. and greatly improves the game if you know how and what ones, and order to use them. i am still in the 'learning curve of this game' as well.
some of the views are not so good, i am left a little blind. outside and in the tank, i didnt see any decent cupola views? its not as over taxing/overloaded the player as some other games do but, does at times.
its fun, entertaining, affordable, and doesnt kill my computer. not fair to compare it to these new games with high end graphics, take up a lot of gigabytes, and you need a 'super computer to run them. was going to give it a 4 star but, this old gem deserves a 5 star.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
