Obduction ®

I haven't finished the game, but the setting is great and the puzzles are good for making me think for a bit. If it's worth your time/money is up to you.

Rand Miller has done it again. I am very selective about games... it's not nearly as much a passion for me as it is for some people; it's just not something I've ever enjoyed. However, my wife and I totally geeked out on the Myst series back in the day, playing every entry in that series. We've played other puzzle adventures too (Longest Journey, Qi, etc) but were always waiting for the next Myst installment. Obduction retains the sensibility of those Myst games, but takes place in a completely different and wonderfully realized set of "worlds." No need to recap the plot here. Just like the old days, you find yourself in a place and uncover the story by exploring. So much fun! [semi spoiler below] My one quibble (I played this on PS4 since my computer wasn't up to snuff, so I don't know if there are any diffrences on that platform): after the endgame I wanted to explore the world in which I landed, but just when I thought Mr. Miller was about to let me do that, here came the credits. Can we get an extension pack, please? Rand? Are you listening? Plus it's so great to see the Miller bros. reunited.

Some of the puzzles were quite challenging. The story within the papers you pick up has you questioning what happened in the different worlds. If you are looking to step away from the insane action games and looking for puzzles, this is it. Probably the most puzzling game I've played.

The story seems interesting enough, but the gameplay is really boring. I spend what felt like quite a lot of time trying to find out where the game is. The area you're dropped in is large, but it's full of dead ends and objects you can't interact with. To see whether you can interact with something, you must stop moving. The sheer number of objects makes it hard to spot objects you can interact with, which is not helped by a lack of standardization in what buttons look like. When I did eventually find the game, it was primarily in the form of stumbling on things I could interact with and clicking them to progress. There was no thought involved. After a while of this, I was given a cart to drive around, but its operation is far too realistic to be any fun. You have to get out of it and adjust the track levers every time you want to turn, and it's fairly slow and noisy. That's as far as I got before deciding this isn't my cup of tea.

Loading with everytime i try to change in puzzle maze it was HORRIBLE ! Loading here loading there WTF was that ! never again thanks GOG for Free game but not worth for money !
