Night in the Woods is an adventure game focused on exploration, story, and character, featuring dozens of characters to meet and lots to do across a lush, vibrant world. After a successful Kickstarter it's being made by Infinite Fall, a teamup of Alec Holowka (Aquaria), Scott Benson (Late Night Work Club), and Bethany Hockenberry.

This game is a narrative adventure based on Mae, a girl who came back home after 18 months of studies. The story is very great, it deals with ghosts and mysterious things in Possum Springs. The game runs perfectly and it is very beautiful. You can explore this small 2D-open world and talk to everybody or just go out with your friends. There are some mini-games which are fun (as a small guitar hero and some shoot sessions).
I think it is underrated and my favorite 2017 game so far! Everything seems perfect, soundtrack, story, graphics.
This is one of my favourite games, that said as a game it is kinda icky! I rather discribe it as an interactive story, which kinda is a game but than aigan in a game you can fail.
But sitll my favourite game of all, I especially like how much I can somehow relate to mae, knowing how it is to bew a teen and all. Even trough I am far from the experience a rust belt child does know, neither am I a punk or really do any crimes even trough sometimes I whish I did otherwise I am the complete oppositte. But it is more the feeling, like I had many of those feelings to of helplessness and of just wandering around living just because I live not motivated by survival or ambitions just by curiousity what happens next.
I also love the diverse characters, even trough the leftish feeling gets trough from time to time, which is partly because the anticapitalista one of the game devs is, they kept it to a minimum. And further more most of the political topics they discuss (I mean actually policial topics, "eff the cops" is not political) is something we all, left and right or diagonal, can relate to.
I really hate hte endgame, if I could skip the endgame just the last two hours excluding the last day I really would be happy. Because the whole ghost story sucks!. I rather jump around and talk to random people.
This game is not relatable. The main character dropped out of college after having a dissociative episode and assaulting someone, her parents are blandly supportive of her decision, despite bankrolling her education, and make zero attempts to address her violent breakdown. The main character spends her days hanging out with her friends and doing stuff like assembling a functional robot from garbage and a car battery, shoplifting and then returning the stolen items, stabbing each other in the hands over and over (seriously) and wandering around the town smashing other people's property because, and I swear this isn't reductionist at all, "crime is cool."
The writing is bland, choppy, and uninteresting in an attempt to affect a naturalistic way of speaking. Imagine someone watched a great indie story like "500 Days of Summer" or "Juno" and tried to ape the style without understanding how to inform that sparse dialogue with underlying emotional resonance.
There's a lot going on in the background. An eldritch cult, a cosmic cat-god thing, dungeon crawling and rhythm mini games, but none of it has any impact on the story and doesn't even serve to reinforce themes from the plot. Just feels like filler, albeit very pretty filler at times. Filler that this game didn't need. It's about an 8 hour game and cutting it down to five would have been hugely beneficial.
The gameplay is reminiscent of sidescrolling platformers, but only the hub map takes any advantage of this to encourage exploration and most of the time the mechanics only serve to let you walk to the next story event instead of cutting to it immediately.
All of this is a shame because the presentation is really nice. The art style is distinctive and autumnal with some legitimately impressive set pieces and a couple of interesting musical moments, but it's hard to get invested when none of it is actually adding to anything greater or leading us as an audience to any statement of purpose or satisfying conclusion.
Really boring game with very few gameplay on it , the game is heavily based on dialogue and the probleme is that this dialogue is so boring because it has no story line on it , its like reading a facebook conversation between two boring people . 90% of time in this game all you do on it is to keep pressing "space" to read a dialogue.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
