There is No URL in this review

Why this series gets so much praise i will never know. DnD mechanics have never and will never make for good gameplay in a video game, and this one is no exception you have countless choices for your character but none of them matter since the game isnt about controlling your character but micro managing a small group of mentally handicapped cliche factories that have all the self preservation instincts of a depressed lemming. As dumb as they are in combat that stupidity is nothing compared to when you actually talk to these imbeciles. The thief especially , When oh when will rpg writers get tired of this "cute mischievous rogue lol XD" crap? it makes me want to puke. she's not cute or funny, she's annoying as hell and if I had my way she'd spend the next adventure as a pile of steaming monster feces. The others aren't much better the dwarf fighter who likes to drink and fight, the druid with the same personality as a plank of wood, The sorceress who claims to be all powerful but can only accomplish 5 or 6 points of damage before she gets gutted, a gnome that sucks, a paladin that sucks, and of course the requisite evil character who is every insipid edgelord trope rolled into one Ugh. People say the expansion is better but they're lying. You are at an absolutely absurd power level fighting absurd encounters which make playing anything but a crazy munchkin "i multiclassed into everything" build a waste of effort, and playing though without a doubt the most maudlin, pretentious, up its own ass story i have ever encountered in a video game. This game is trash and if you disagree you are wrong.

2019 and you can't make this crap run genuinely in 1440k what a waste of money

Are people reviewing the game brain damaged? What about Obsidian? Holy molly is this thing for real??? Did they seriously charge 60 DOLLARS for this unfinished engine with brain dead AI back in the day??? What a sad joke, someone should revoke Obsidian's game making license if such a thing exits. Jesus....

First of all, this game should come with one of those disclaimers that say the game is not complete and may or may not change further. Unless you are a die hard DND fan, it's just not going to be worth your time. The controls are WASD, but the character moves in the direction it is facing and not in the direction the camera is facing (What!?). AND, you know what happens when you try to strafe? The character stands in place and ROTATES. THEN, the character teleports randomly around the screen when you decide to just deal with it. Learning curve is ridiculously steep. Game play MUST compensate to justify this, and game play does not. Graphics are TERRIBLE! This isn't an UNPOLISHED game, this is maybe an alpha release. Graphics in the original Neverwinter Nights are actually noticeably better. That's just plain unacceptable. The UI is ugly, non-intuitive, and confusing at best. The story line of the original campaign starts with some kids going to some stupid festival or something. COME ON. Powder puff story lines? Really? Who do they think the audience is here? Character creation. Get out your triple monitor set up because you're going to need your spreadsheets on one side and your build guides on the other, and you might as well bust out the notepad and the clicky pencil too, cause you're gonna wanna take notes (and erase). The modding community for this game is not robust enough to address the issues that make this game (nearly?) unplayable, and it's clear that this was the intention of the developers from the start - publish this turd and let the community sort it out. Problem is - there's not enough substance here for enough modders to want to even attempt it. The ONLY good thing about this game, which is something I don't care about, is the fact that it uses the DND 3.5 ruleset. NOT the implementation, though - that's really bad too. There's not enough of anything else to make it worth it. The fact that this game seems to have mostly positive reviews is suspect, unless you consider the fact that the top review from 2013 has like 300-something "likes," if you will, and that the positivity surrounding this game is likely due to some sort of echo chamber filled with lonely lost souls trying to pull you down into the screaming abyss that is Neverwinter Nights 2.
