First.. the title here talks about the first Add-on: Mask of the Betrayer, not about the original campaign. I very much enjoyed the OC also in fact... it is far superior in every regard to the NWN 1 campaign, which is just outright boring... this one is fun. MotB though is an entirely different type of game... believable, engaging Storyline.. Epic level gaming done right for the first time in an DnD-game IMHO... BG2:ToB was rather badly done imho... you really feel badass, but of course you have also badass opponents. I really liked the "hunger"-mechanism, so many people detest, as it really adds to the gameplay in my opinion. I also read in reviews that the battles are far to hard... WTF??? This is epic level gaming and the hard enemies were always rewarding to battle. Simply put, as other already said MotB is worth the full price already. And Rashaman is a welcome leave from the usual places :) I did not really warm to the second expansion very much though... probably because I imported my character from MotB... which is a little ;) overpowered at that point... really good idea with the overland map for travelling, though. For what it is worth... the complete pack I bought and played a few years ago wasn't really buggy also, compared to what others write here. I now just bought this again for MoW and lets see if I like this also. Anyway, a must play for anyone, who likes DnD-RPGs. The BG-followup NWN1 never was.

Just perfection. No politics, social issues, DEI stuff...just a good game.

This is kind of painful for me to say, but i did not enjoy this game at all. I had really high hopes that this game would have been a great experience and would be comparable to te likes of Planescape Torment or Dragon Age Origins, but none of my expectations were met. The game is buggy, bizarrely unbalanced, and overall not very enjoyable. A shame, considering the reputation tis game has, though i guess it's not for me.

I had always read that NWN 2 was one of the greatest CRPGs ever or at least MOTB, but not being fully interested in NWN 1 and thinking that NWN 2 looked more of the same, it just sat in my library for a very long time until I finally got around to it (and just my luck that NWN 2 enchanced edition is teased while i was mostly through it). I suppose it was good enough to put the 250ish hours to beat all content (OC, MOTB, Storm of Zehir, and Mystery of Westgae), but I found it the weakest of all the D & D games - I've played the other IE games not too long ago (BG 1 + 2, IWD, Planescape Torment) and they still held up and were so much better. Then, there were new ones like the Pathfinder games. OC: I usually don't pay much attention to the VO, but this had some of the worst in the game. I like the diversions of strongholds, but Crossroad Keep and being on a progression based on talking to certain people or even jsut stepping foot in certain parts of the keep just made it annoying. Ovearll, it was okay I guess. People hated the ended and I guess I could see why - though having MOTB right after and knowing somewhat what to expect blunted things. Never been a fan of crafting and the crafting system was terrible. MOTB: The companions were good overall I guess, but I honestly have no clue where the praise comes from? I guess I just don't care for high level D & D. Also, the Wall of the Faithless was the dumbest idea and frankly insulting. What hapened to the old lore about just going to the realm closest to your alignment? SOZ: I guess it had interesting mechanics, but the plot was there and it got really annoying running around the map by the end. Mystery of Westgate: Honestly? May have been my favorite. It didn't overstay it's welcome, it avoided the epic levels which I don't think are fun, and the plot was interesting enough. I liked that I could actually make snarky remarks to the villains. All in all though I can't say I recommend NWN 2 as a CRPG fan.
