Good Game, But Forcefully Cropped

The game itself is very good. Other reviews have done a decent job of covering why you should play this game. That said, this specific release of this game has a major annoyance for me which ruins it. They force the game to output at the aspect ratio of your monitor (despite the game only having been made for the 4:3 aspect ratio). In my specific case this means the game is cropped (based on the HUD elements being cut off, such as the compass) and stretched. There is no way to disable this, not in game or modded. I know GOG, or the developer before releasing through GOG, likely thought this was preferable to dealing with annoying complaints about black bars but this ruins the experience. I recommend you play the game, but just know it will be forcefully cropped and or stretched with no way to disable the behavior (just like the Star Wars: BattleFront releases on GOG).

2 styles of shooters blended into one

The first 5 levels of the game (first of which is more or less a cutscene) Is a budget wolfenstein in WW1, which is what got me interested in the game in the first place. After that, the game completely changes its setting by going underground and turns into a vampire themed painkiller. The problem is, it doesn't do either of them well and you will likely hate one of the two styles. Really felt like a bait and switch for those that were interested in the ww1 setting that the game presented itself as. Worse still, the writing is awful and the main character will not STFU with his constant one liner quipping and awful voice acting. Plus its also buggy. I would recommend skipping it and playing the prequel, Lost Company if you were interested in the setting, and just getting painkiller if you were interested in the second half.

Bonkers! And good up to a point.

Crazy WW1 Story that has good action from early to mid-game, but outwore it's welcome for the final few levels. By this point you want the game to finish as it's just wave after wave of bad guys and you've already killed several thousand. I bought it on sale for less than a £1 and definately got my moneys worth.

Not Bad

I purchased this for .75 cents. At that price, it isn't bad at all. It's basically like Painkiller, but not as functional. It has a number of bugs and little irritating things, but nothing terrible (which is a relative thing from player to player, I suppose.) I wished they didn't have your character dropping stupid one-liners continually in his poorly voiced Texan accent. Honestly, that's probably my biggest complaint. I can get past the jank, but your character constantly talked got on my nerves after about 10 minutes. Again, it was .75 cents, so I'm happy. If you want a goofy shooter, held together with bubblegum and paperclips, it isn't bad at all for the price.

A Wolfenstein-Like That Goes Too Far

Necrovision has a good premise of taking players through the horror of WW1 by exposing atroicities such as trench warfare, artillery, and gassing. And then, the game goes a step further and introduces a supernatural element - zombies, demons, and undead. The game falls apart in its balancing of combat, shooting mechanics, and plot. If you want a mindless boomer-shooter with a protagonist shouting one-liners as you're facing bullet sponge enemies, then by all means get this game on sale. I purchased this game YEARS later out of curiosity and the low price of 75 cents. I would recommend you skip on this entry unless you like anything I mentioned above.
