Best of the Series
Revolutionary RPG similar in many way to Baldur's Gate games with the active time - pause mechanic, but in first person perspective... a classic, made all the better when paired with excellent community mods that update the game in various ways.

Almost as good as MM6 (but not quite)
A way smaller and much less "epic" experience than MM6, but still better than MM7 with some really great ideas and a lot of unique charm. Kinda unbalanced, but that's true for every episode. (here's a little bit too much because of the recruitment system and the dragon characters) The story is a bit darker, but the world is really colorful and rich. The infinitely empty dungeons that were characteristic of MM7 are much rarer here (thank the gods!), but unfortunately we are still a long way from the gigantic and amazingly crafted dungeons of MM6. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because MM6 overshadows it, but otherwise it's a fantastic game full of soul, humor, and the promise of a great adventure.

Crash
I've owned and finished the MM8 before, I've bought it on GOG mainly out of nostalgia. It's a good game, but I prefer MM7. The main reasons are a better story, party creation at the start, HMM 3 graphics. Nevertheless, I've recently got time to play MM8, GOG version, and it is still an enjoyable game. Unfortunately, there are some bugs in the game. My bug comes after I've got my main character promoted to lich and visited the Necromancer Laboratory. Since that whenever I click on the portrait of the main character the game crash :( the main character inventory/stats/... are inaccessible. As I've used only a few save files, all of my progress went down the drain. A possible approach might be to have multiple save files, yet even that might not be the solution, as other reviews suggest. It's a shame as otherwise the game still has its moments.
