Might and Magic® 6-pack Limited Edition

After playing countless RPGs, including greats like Morrowind and Skyrim, I was a bit doubtful when nostalgia hit me to replay MM6, especially that it is one of those few games I hugely enjoyed but never finished its main quest. I thought that the dated graphics will put me off and I will quit after an hour or two. Hoo boy I was wrong. For some reason MM6 is extremely addictive. I ended up playing for 2 months until I finished the main quest. The dated graphics required only an hour of adjustment and was enjoyable even with a streched screen (the game natively does not support widescreen, you need to download an unofficial patch). Its simple yet compelling RPG mechanics and well crafted world has a charm that few games have. It is also quite challenging. Interestingly after I finished MM6, I went to MM7 which I liked more back then because of its more high-fantasy-ish setting, improved mechanics, more items, etc. but I quickly quit in digust. Dunno why. Seems MM6 has aged better. Very highly recommneded!

The game is from my point of view, the best of the 6 - 9 sagas. 7th comes next, then 9th and 8th. All these I have walked throught several times. Last time I ended 6th with every character at the 60th level and the time of Enroth it took 2 years 7 months and 6 days while got 10560 points. It was one of the many times I went the game throught, not the single incident. It honestly tells me, that game is really worth of 5/5 stars if I start it all over again from time to time. The instalment has a largely interesting plot, again battling with the devils of the land and the same time a cult of Baal which has come to the land. Landscapes are pretty and difficulty is in correct place. Advancement system allows every character to advance in almost any skill to final level. The game mechanics is good and stable. I will not spoil this more than say: "Hey, just play it! It is largely worth of it".

These games are a surprisingly good introduction to the world of old-school PC RPG's, and I say that as a newbie! Whilst I found 1 & 2 to be far too ancient to play, I have become addicted to 3 and have found it extremely accessible as a newcomer. The art still holds up today and it's sound design is super charming despite having aged. Admittedly, it can be a challenge due to the nature of these games just being harder and more non-linear but, it never feels unfair and the challenges are very satisfying to overcome. A great introduction to a great genre, highly reccomended for newbies like me. Can't wait to dive into the rest of the collection beyond 3.

I just started to replay the games for the more than one hundred times like I did on my childhood. Believe me, those games are very addictive and gives you lots of fun no matter how much you die (and you will). The reason I put just 4 stars is that MM6 do not have cloud saves like the other old DOS games (1 to 5) and MM7 to MM9 do. Hopefully, GOG can rectify this issue. When they do, I will change it to 5 stars.

First of all: every single one of these games has it's flaws, but if you like oldschool rpgs and especially if you like blobbers, you will propably love these. my personal favorite are 4&5 as i love pixel art graphics (and they are pretty artsy imho) and you can combine them to one game.
