Metro 2033 Redux

Metro 2033 is a game I respect for several reasons. First, the story. You play as Ayrtom, a young man content with living in his station on the far end of the Metro, located until the hellscape that is the remains of Moscow. Various things happen, and you start heading for the main hub of the Metro, Polis. Along the way, you encounter many abominations and horrors. Overall, a campaign that left some questions but was definitely satisfying to complete. Second, the atmosphere. You live in the remains of Moscow after a large-scale nuclear missile strike left the ground scarred and radioactive, along with a depressing reality for the sad people that had the misfortune of surviving only to be thrust into the aftermath. Many creatures roam the Metro, with some of the nastiest choosing to live on the surface. Prepare to be scared of everything, from demons to librarians (yes, librarians), and leave the magazine as close to full as you can. Traversing the Metro still has a way to leave you on edge, even without death happening around you like it's going out of style, with pervading darkness and a chilling ambience that can make your hairs stand on end. Civilization is sparse, with small bands of 20 people sticking together to defend pockets of the Metro from raiders and mutants. You can trade in some circles, using military-grade rounds as currency. Weapon variety holds up, with everything from shotguns to railguns able to dole out damage. Third, the graphics. This game was renowned for boasting impressive graphics on release, and they hold up pretty well, with good lighting and post-processing to help cover the rough textures and sometimes pointy meshes (not often). Water looks good, but don't get too close. In addition, this game runs pretty well on integrated graphics, so even if your laptop is 5 years old with Intel HD inside, the game looks good. I leave the review with 4 stars because while this is a good game, I prefer Last Light a little more.

Nie cierpię wszystkich zabiegów typu „3 dni wcześniej” – a właśnie tak rozpoczyna się przygoda. Jeżeli jest coś ważnego do przekazania, to należy to przekazać. Filmy, książki i gry pokazują, że się da. Ale nie… Tu musimy zacząć od ciekawego momentu tylko po to by nagle przenieść się x czasu w przeszłość. Bardzo zły start – a raczej ewidentny brak pomysłu na jego dobrą wersję. Już kończę się znęcać nad formą i wracam do tego co chciałem przekazać. Mianowicie: nuda. To ciężki temat do wyjaśnienia… Powiedzmy, że nie jestem przeciwnikiem liniowości. Np. bardzo przecież liniowy F.E.A.R. uważam za rewelacyjny tytuł. Nie wiem w sumie czemu. Czy to przeciwnicy? Uczucie strachu? Ciekawa historia? Metro 2033 jest natomiast do bólu liniowe i mało zróżnicowane. Co chwila trafiamy na tych samych przeciwników w tych samych tunelach. Nie ma tu całkowicie zmian. Po pierwszych 30 minutach widzieliśmy wszystko. Przez cały czas trwania przygody trafią się może jeszcze z 4 odmienne lokacje. Niestety, ale grając miałem wrażenie, jakbym chodził do pracy. Bo na okrągło robiłem to samo. O teraz idź tam. O a teraz uwaga, bo przeciwnicy. O a teraz idź tam zastrzel tego gościa i tamtego też. I tak w kółko. W tych samych tunelach. Rozumiem, że osadzenie akcji w metrze miało potęgować poczucie zaszczucia – w końcu nie mamy gdzie uciekać… Jednak cały tytuł nie czułem się nawet delikatnie przestraszony. Były momenty, w których historia nadrabiała, jednak bardzo szybko trafialiśmy na kolejną stację, gdzie działy się „nieoczekiwane” rzeczy i znów robiliśmy to samo ale z innym towarzyszem. Szkoda, że było to na siłę rozciągane, bo dużo bardziej wolałbym skondensowaną ale konkretną dawkę opowieści. Cieszę się, że mam to już za sobą i czas wracać do pracy, by dojść do Exodusa…

Klimat pierwsza klasa. Aż czuć zniszczenie wokół. Świetnie ukazane lokacje. Dreszczyk emocji gwarantowany. Historia nawet w porządku, ale trochę zawiodłem się końcówką. Nie podobały mi się wizje głównego bohatera i pod koniec gry brakło mi amunicji i wyłączyłem grę. Miałem po chwili wrócić, bo został mi kwadrans do końca, ale obejrzałem już zakończenie na YouTube i nie żałuję. Na koniec jest za dużo tych wizji i zanudziłbym się na śmierć. Gra na pewno warta uwagi dla wszystkich fanów post-apo. Kolejna część już się instaluje.

A beautiful game that combines a range of experiences. Some maps involve surviving waves of enemies, some maps are rail shooters, some maps are combat-free city explorations where you mingle with the locals and trade for needed resources. My favorite maps are the ones with human opponents, which allow you a wide range of playstyles. You can go with the stealth approach and sneak past them, or go for essential stealth kills, or you can alert them to your presence and engage in all-out warfare. Since the AI and NPC models are so well done, combat is extremely fun whatever approach you choose. Not all the levels are equally compelling. I've played Frontline over and over because it's so brilliantly designed. It's fun trying to figure out all the different ways you can complete the mission. But some of the rail shooter maps I find a bit boring. It's much better when giving you experiences full of mystery and astonishing world-building. I've never played the original, but Redux seems about as good as story-driven games can be. Highly recommended.

Metro 2033 is a post apocolyptic FPS game set in the underground metro system of Russia in the year, you guessed it 2033. You play as a young man who lives in the metro system underground with a lot of other survivors of a nuclear war, who is unaware of anything going on in the outside world or the rest of the metro system, but when you turn of age, a friend of your family will turn up to report some news that will change your characters life in ways he can't imagine when he finds out about what is happening in the rest of the metro and worse..on the surface. Metro 2033 has a great atmosphere, while you are traversing the world, the stealth can make you feel on edge, the scary scenes make you feel like you are actually there. The game can be a little difficult as you need to manage all your resources that you have on you, such as ammunion which can run short very quickly and can force you to get past enemies in other ways. The game has great graphics and sound as mentioned above, there is no bugs or glitches that I have come across. If you are into post apocolyptic survival games you will love this, just buy it lol.
