Different... too different
Like many of the others, MOO & MOO2 are at the top of my favorites list. MOO3 is as near the bottom as the others are near the top.

What the hell!?
MOO 1 and 2 where great classic games, they captured the essencse of B grade space conquest and paved the way for future titles like Galactic civilizations and Sins of a Solar empire. These two games alone are can take hours and weeks away from my life and I enjoy every minute of it. MOO 3 on the other hand lost it comepletly. They cut out most of the ideas they had for it originaly and also droped all the great races from the game because they where too cliche and cheesy. The interface is a comeplete mess and it pretty much plays itself. If you want a game that is like MOO 1 and 2 and has the same level of enjoyment and depth then go out and buy the boardgame Twilight Imperium or purchase Galactic civilizations, or just play MOO 1 and 2. At all costs please for your own sanity and wallet please avoid this game at all costs.

worst in series
I loved both MOO1 and MOO2. MOO3 was a horrible disappointment. I cannot even tell you how many hours I dumped into MOO 1&2. I bought MOO3 at a discount less than a year after it came out. This seriously worried me. I tried to play the game I really did. I hated it than and cannot bring myself to play it now. Where MOO1 & 2 were fun MOO3 isn't. The only way I'll own this is if they bundle it with the first 2. This is a bad game in its own right and a worse game when you consider it is the MOO franchise.

Greatest Disappointment of my Childhood
Ever since I was a little kid, I would play the original Master of Orion on an ancient macintosh at my grandfather's house whenever we visited. Ahh, the fond memories of building various, gargantuan death cruisers. (My young mind couldn't wrap itself around the idea of building lots of little ships, why would you want a tiny spaceship!?!) Fast forward a few years, and I hear about Master of Orion II, which quickly became my first video game purchase, and brought me the most fun I've ever, and will ever have out of ten dollars. This is a game I still load up from time to time, a game with endless replayability. And then, there's Master of Orion III. Upon hearing of it's release, I shelled out the cash to have it shipped to my home. With high hopes, I installed it on my machine. With eager anticipation, I began my first play through. My first thought was: "What happened to the alien?" This was followed by more and more unanswered questions: "What does this building do?" "Another transport? Do I really need 50?" "D-Did the computer just colonize that system all on its own?" "How do I tell it what to research?" These questions soon changed into a single, simpler question: "Why am I still "playing" this? I've never touched it since.
