Lost Ruins is a 2D side-scrolling survival action game, where you play as a young girl that has awoken in a strange and foreign place without her memories. Explore a dark and dangerous world, battle hideous monsters, and topple incredible bosses.



A young girl wakes up in a dimly lit dungeon without any of her memories. Surrounded by horrible, bloodthirsty monsters, she is rescued by a mysterious magician, Beatrice. With Beatrice’s help, the girl goes on a perilous journey to find answers and unlock the secrets of the Lost Ruins.



Engage in Combat
Combat in Lost Ruins is in real time, and can be both fast and methodical. Slash away at enemies, burn them to a crisp, or even deflect their projectiles back at them. Arm yourself with a variety of swords, axes and other assorted medieval weaponry, and hack monsters to pieces.

Master Spells
For those with an affinity for magic, Lost Ruins allows you to cast a variety of spells through wands, tonics, and scrolls. Burn monsters, freeze bosses, and heal yourself when in danger. Choose what works for your playstyle and make a magic casting character that’s totally your own.

Choose Accessories
The world of Lost Ruins is a dangerous one and being armed to the teeth with awesome weaponry is sometimes not enough. That’s where accessories come in. Accessories are unique pieces of equipment with all manner of effects. One accessory might protect you against fire, while another might heal you when you’re poisoned. The right combination of accessories can create different strategic options for your adventure.

Use the Environment
As you explore the depths of Lost Ruin’s dimly lit dungeons, you will find that while everything around you might bring about your death, you can also use the environment around you to your advantage. Elements within the world will react with other elements realistically. Flammable liquids will be set ablaze when in contact with lit lanterns. Ice magic will freeze bodies of water, making them dangerously cold. The more you understand the environment and how to use it to your advantage, the more dangerous you will become.



Main Character

A young school girl who wakes up in a dangerous underground maze with no memory of her past. Desperate to find answers to who she is and how she ended up in this place, she begins exploring the ruins.

Beatrice

A mysterious woman with incredible magical ability, Beatrice acts as the main character's guide through the lost ruins. She seems to be hiding something, however. 

Goblin Merchant

This helpful little guy works for Beatrice, and appears throughout the game to assist the main character. 

Sora & Mingie

These two girls aren't just zombies, they're also big fans of pop music idols, evidenced by the glow sticks they carry wherever they go.

Pretty good, difficult, v1.0 a bit buggy

This is a tough game. It's not for kids since it's more about hardcore survival and bloody dismemberment. The art is great, the story is alright, the replay value looks to be pretty high because of the different combinations of items and specializations you can work towards. First playthrough was about 7 hours. I would compare this game to Momodora in its general style, and Noita because of its particle system where you can, for example, spill oil on the ground and light it on fire to create a trap. There is a lot of menuing to constantly switch between different relics and weapons, and I wish there were an easier way somehow, like a weapon wheel. I'm playing on normal difficulty and even then it can feel frustrating. You'll die to a single poison bottle that you didn't see, or a magic spell that traveled through the walls (looking at you undead mage w/ ice orb). Bosses will take a lot of retries until you figure out your best strategy, which can be annoying but it does force you to think and strategize around weaknesses and what you have available. ---- Since this is 1.0 release day version, here's some feedback for the developer: The following behaviors seem bugged or not working properly: - HP recovery from hitting a skeleton with Holy Bottle - MP recovery from strikes with Best Friend - HP recovery on fire with Kitchen Gloves - 1/2 MP reduction from Rune Stone I would really like the ability to manually re-trigger autosave statues, because if I'm right before a boss and autosave at 14 HP with the wrong relics, I need to do the menuing to heal up and change inventory on every single attempt, which is annoying. Specifically the autosaves around the Dakimakura fans are strange. I save at the one to their right, then go through the gauntlet and come back around to pass the statue below them, outside the latrine, except it's already lit. So if I die to, say, the ghost in the latrine, I have to go through the gauntlet room again. Seems like an oversight.

Decent but a little rough.

Well made, but a little rough. Some bad ideas: - autosave shrines before boss fights. - lack of favoriting of equipment nor any switching function. - 0 incentive to kill enemies while backtracking or exploring, item drops and money (even with thief shoes) is rare and no exp. Bugs. - some melee attacks not registering, (maybe 1/30?). - Some attacks bypassing shield, *chasing skulls*. - Some scripting issues with mechanics (golden casket lady) And frustrating mechanics: - Enemy overused dot effects. Few ways to resist them and often accompanies with an attack. - "self undoing puzzles" making backtracking and exploring painfully annoying. - Overpowered magic, underpowred bows and melee. But Was still enjoyable, i will likely return to play more after a patch or 2.

Stunning visuals, not much else

Very pretty game, animations are superb. The visuals are to be hailed. Environmental interactions are also this game's strong side. But everything else is kind of sub par. Sound design and music are bleak, character design is a bit painful and shallow, story is most certainly not innovative and is uninspiringly bad, as for writing - it is intellectually stunted. About where it matters - mechanics, this game seems not to have enough polish and overall design appears to be more idea-oriented than player-experience oriented: oh, let's make this game guro kawaii, punishing and also let's make it think before mash. Well this game does not prioritise your convenience and time for that to work perfectly. It states outright: think your encounters, but when you start thinking - the best course of actions is to be lazy. There are ez ways to bonk your enemies when you analyse, but to enact them is akin to solving a puzzle you've already solved. Which is extremely cursed. The game becomes glaringly shallow on a core level and it doesn't inspire you to replay it because of the gameplay loop design. Iron man mode? Yeah, hard pass, mate. Controls are a bit clunky and unresponsive, movement is non-rewarding, enemy design is placeholder level. Level design can be nice. Atmosphere is unengaging. But most of all, this game is kind of unfair. The difficulty is artificially bumped up by enemy design and imbalanced game economy: brute force is disencouraged because enemies are more brutal than you (cheap deaths and spamming from almost every enemy); your buying capability is much less than the offer. So, game experience prioritizes thought over skill - by punishing you for polishing skills. Imho, game doesn't do enough of what it set out to do. To sum up. Charming game. Visuals are very nice and everything else is about what you would expect from indie studio's maiden voyage. Not a game for gitting gud and overcoming, but a game to grate yerself against if that's your cup of tea.

Cheesy af, but

You get to kill sexy monsters and you be can literally smashed to death by huge tits, with a nice sense of humor :) No need to grind or craft or bother with economy. You sold something, most likely you'll have troubles defeating some enemies in the future. Practically you can respec your build at any time by choosing different item setup and seemingly impossible turns into an easy peasy. Plus russian translation is superb, english is way worse, i've even restarted the game to just reread everything.

Seems nice, but...

I would love to get lost in this game but the constant crashes have rendered this completely unplayable. Which is unfortunate because this seems like a decent metroidvania. It crashes on startup. It crashes when I'm loading a game. My most recent crash seems to have made it so I can't even play it. Like, at all. I died during a fight and now the game will not respond to either my gamepad or keyboard.
