A game that revived a geat RPG style!

I loved The Eye of the Beholder series in the early 90's and I am so glad this developer decided to resurrect the 1st person, real-time combat, grid-based RPG. I am jazzed knowing that a lot of the people playing this missed that era, and now get to experience a great old school style RPG for the first time. The updated graphics are really nice, the puzzles are mostly logical, and the combat is exciting; the battles get really pulse pounding at the end. If you are younger and never played 1st person RPG's like Lands of Lore, Eye of the Beholder, and others, make sure to get this.

Excellent retro game

Legend of Grimrock brings back the old Dungeon crawlers from the 80s, like Dungeon Master and many others. Where this game excels is the way it does this. The gameplay and feel of the old classics is fully preserved, while the graphics, sound and animations are up to today's standards. To my knowledge, this has never been done before, not to this level of perfection anyway. My only gripes with this game is that it doesn't seem to be inspired by the best titles of the genre. Some games offer a lot more variation than DM, for example Lands of Lore or Waxworks.Hopefully the developer has huge success with this title, so we get more of such great remakes.

Yes you should!

OK so Ive finally completed Legend Of Grimrock (better late than never, right?) At first the game seemed a bit too old school to me, as Ive never played Magic Carpet or Eye Of The Beholder. But after a short time, I really became fascinated by it and the obvious attention to every detail, from graphics, sound, and the puzzles. I admit that I had to look up a few of the solutions to the puzzles, but honestly after reading how to do one, I was never left with the feeling that I would never have found that out on my own, and it was too hard to see what you had to do. Legend Of Grimrock is hard at times, but fair. If you enjoy puzzles. If you like fantasy or if you just like a visit to a fascinating universe, should you buy Legend Of Grimrock...? Read title of this review again! Full marks to the games developers for this one. Theres nothing "indy" about it, trust me.

I am a meat head and i enjoyed this game

I'm not a big dungeons and dragon guy. but I enjoy this game for it's tactics. and mood. Also, i usually support GOG.com but i got it on steam cause it was 4 bucks.

A suprisingly good indie game

When my friend first bought this for my birthday I couldnt get into the game a lot but having recently tried the game again I am not disappointed. It feels like a 3D Zork game with good puzzles, combat and role playing elements. The dungeons look sexy and the music is catchy.
