Just as good as ...

... it was 20 years ago. I love that the game was captured in its true form without too much new additions. Thanks for making it possible to experience this world, the outstanding story and their characters. Now, why not make a graphic update to Legacy of Kain: Defiance and bring it as an add-on to this game? I would love to see this gem of a game with a few updated tweaks here and there. Thank you to the lovely people working at Aspyr!

Very faithful remaster

Sometimes being a faithful remaster is not a good thing. When you reproduce game breaking bugs to stay 'true' then I have to question, why? I genuinely love LOK, Legacy of Kain, as a story but the gameplay has ALWAYS been the weakest part of the series, and losing potentially hours of progress because you were going too fast and accidentally caused a softlock can be beyond frustrating. I think there's a lot of room for improvement for stability and bug fixing.

Fantastic Modernization!

This remaster takes the original soul reaver games and injects incredibly lovely looking graphics with the ability to switch them to the original and back on the fly. It also works great "out of the box" or so to speak, where the originals required patches to function properly on modern hardware, these remakes work right as is. If you're looking to get into the Legacy of Kain universe, these games are a great starting point and returning fans of the series won't be disappointed. I hope to see the whole series remastered or readily playable on modern hardare.

The best kinda remaster

I'm so happy with this remaster, it's exactly what all remasters should be imo. updated graphics and smoothed gameplay to match the standards of the day without completely changing things!

Undead but fresher than ever

My first entry into Legacy of Kain was watching my brother play Blood Omen 2, but the first one I really played was Soul Reaver, and it was mesmerizing seeing how good the game looked for being on PS1, from the intro cutscene to the ending. Cut to over 20 years later, and Soul Reaver has never looked so good. Not even the unofficial HD texture mod made SR1 look this sharp and clean, with completely redone 3D models with all new animation. I didn't think the intro cutscene could look even better, but they touched that up too. For better or worse, it plays mostly the same with some quality of life additions like a compass, map, and interaction indicators. To its credit, I wouldn't have changed much else and am very happy with these additions. As a nice little bonus to honor the game's history, there's an interactive museum of sorts where you can explore the incomplete lost levels from a time in development where Soul Reaver almost had a totally different ending. Overall I'm very pleased with this package, and I'm hoping this does well. I'd absolutely love for Legacy of Kain to be back.
