Luck of the Irish Saddled me with a dud
I was burdened with the game Kingdom: Far Reaches as a gift from one St. Patrick's Day Hats. I was able to stomach about 20 minutes of its cliche-laden writing, blurry animations, and embarrassing voice acting before I simply could not stomach any more. If the gameplay was any good, then maybe I could have made some kind of allowance, but honestly that's the worst part of the game. You are, apparently, a wizard's apprentice tasked with collecting three Moebius relics on behalf of another, greater, wizard who cannot be bothered. He gives you three scrolls of sight and sets you loose. I made it as far as collecting some staff from trees that turned into Wood Elves, a magic spring that talked to me as I bathed in it, some rhyming fish-children, and pleasing the guild-lords by restoring sight to a blind-man before I decided to throw it in the garbage. Each scene is a motley patchwork of the worst of fantasy story-telling from the 90s, and because of its age, the animation is essentially a slide-show. The voice acting is apathetic, with voice actors often dramatically changing their intonation mid-sentence. Solving puzzles is as simple as clicking on whatever is available for you to click on, although I'm sure they get harder (ie more frustrating). Only get this game if one of these two apply: 1. You receive it as a gift, either by chance or by someone who believes themselves to be your friend or 2. You want to see the very worst the adventure genre has to offer.
