Beautiful game, Horrendously Bad Combat
The game is beautiful. (1 Star) The setup is fun. Combat is horrendously bad. Would it kill the game devs to let you keep your weapon in your hand until the fight is over? Why does it get placed back into the scabbard every other second and then you have to pull it back out, all while someone is beating on you? Seriously?

More Frustration Than Enjoyment
I liked the voice acting, but this was far too clunky and punishing in every aspect of gameplay (M&KB). Putting block on Q when you're trying to use WASD as movement.... who came up with these? Here's a horse, now HOLD 'X' to try and mount it in motion while you have a posse of elite guard already whacking you with swords. Oh, you managed to get mounted and turned around? Great job, now just run your horses stamina to nothing trying to get distance that you never achieve while you're being filled with arrows from behind. Just lame gameplay loops. I'm sure it's rewarding once you've established you're bearings, but the beginning gameplay feels so unrewarding and diffcult that I've got no interest in slogging through the campaign to get there.

By any means necessary
A very realistic simulation-type game. You will need to wash yourself, or else your clothes will get soiled. Quite challenging, especially at the start. Graphics are killer. Choice of action is high. The nights are SUPER dark. Combat is definitely the game's achilles heal, especially with newer games coming out with revolutionary fighting mechanics. That being said, I find that if you forget about how they 'expect' you to approach combat and instead approach it with the idea of exploiting everything you can to stay alive, it can become very rewarding. Usually fights will be one vs. 3-5 guys or more. Some story missions see larger battles, but on average you will be outnumbered and will have to fight hard & dirty to avoid being laid out flat. It's a bit like skyrim with the leveling system (everything you do in-game builds your skill in that area) Story for how far I played is interesting. The map is huge and the locations are detailed and realistic. As a simulation game, it's a darn good one.

Can't get by starting attackers, sucks
After dying 30 times I can't get by starting attackers. Can't steer horse with assigned game PC controls. This game sucks.
