accidentally finished it already

This game distorted my perception of time during every session so hard that I missed vital texts multiple times and kept playing for hours longer than I thought I had. Then I was at the last level. Pretty sure I need to play it again to see if any of the dialog options change things, or if I can make it through the really REALLY demanding stealth section, or....... look it's good, it looks great it sounds great it's funny, the gameplay is solid ... I love this game. I've been looking forward to it for ages, and it lived up to my hype level and then some. Also I know dialog isn't the MAIN focus of a game like this, but the dialog system is probably my favorite of any game ever.

More than meets the eye...

I bought this game for the Artstyle, as many reviews claim, it's really beautiful. The gameplay is really fast and smooth. Very intense combat... ...but what I didn't expect, is how the story develops. You only get small pieces and at first I did not have the slightest idea of what's going on. I still don't have after three hours in, but that's also very fascinating. I don't want to spoil too much, that's why I won't tell movie references... the game is must very mindfucking and I like it 8)

Episodic nature issue aside...

... this is a great action platformer, with very good controls, terrific animation and 2D pixel art and enjoyable level design. My game counter displays 4 to 5 hours of gameplay which is quite decent for a game of this nature and pricing and while the "end" is open and prone to a followup, the game does stand on its own. I'm just not sure as to why they implemented the replay feature, in the end it really doesn't matter (as Linkin Park would sing) and I ended up skipping them altogether. All in all, one of this year's games to play.

Great Game, Recommended

When I bought Katana Zero, I thought I was getting a really sweet and fast paced ninja action game with some story on the side. Playing the game, the action is definitely well worth it on its own, but the story is phenomenal. This game exceeded my expectations. However, that being said, I do have a gripe. The story's ending doesn't feel like the ending to a complete story, but a book that's part of a story. Several plot elements are left completely unexplored, and I find it hard to believe the main character doesn't do anything else. Now, that being said, I did look online and hear that the devs are making a large (and free) DLC. Hopefully that is the continuation of the story, because I really want to see where the story goes. If it does continue the story, I'll give the game 5 Stars. Another gripe I have is it's really short. Took me 5 hours to beat the game. It does have multiple endings, and the length lends well to replaying speedrunning (yet to try speedrun mod), but the story's quality makes the short length a real shame. This would also be solved somewhat by the DLC, though it wouldn't fix it completely. Anyways, overall, phenomenal game with great gameplay and story.

Interesting story with gameplay problems

I really do love cyberpunk. I do love good soundtracks and I do love well made pixel graphics. Also I love a good, interesting and unique story and Katana Zero delivers all of these things perfectly. BUT and it really hurts me to say that, the gameplay itself is just not good. First of all, it is a bit too monotonous, which it not such a big problem in itself. Well and then there is the AI in combination with the game design, which unfortunately is really bad: the difficulty is jumping really fast from "super easy" to "almost impossible". And the AI does only make it worse: sometimes it reacts even bevore the door is open and kills you, sometimes it just waits until you kill them, sometimes it magically alives one hit kill hits and sometimes it just randomely moves in ways it hasn't done in the previous >10 tries before. Really I want to like it so hard, as the story is exactely my cup of tea but the AI in combination with the game-design just infuriates me so strong, that I cant enjoy the other parts of the game. If you can life with the AI and game-design mistakes, the game is great, if you can't like me, you should better get an other game.
